This will be my second winter in minnesota. I keep hearing people talking about "Going up north" so much so that the wife and I want to take the STi on a trip "Up north"

We where thinking of "Going Up north" and doing some fun stuff in the snow. Maybe renting snow mobiles and or going skiing or both! Also testing out the STi in snowy conditions sounds like fun. The ice race i read about sounds fun but I really dont want to take my 6000 mile old STi on a lake and crash it into snow banks.

Any suggestions on where/what to do?

Go along the north shore to ely, between Two Harbors and Ely is very twisty and fun. You can go to Giant's ridge in Biwabik or Spirit Mt. in Duluth to ski.

The Gunflint Trail is gorgeous in the winter time. Watch out for moose.

Well, a trip up to Grand Marais and Lutsen for a weekend of skiing is always a good choice. There are some very nice hotels right on the lake in Grand Marais.

come to crosslake, we have a track plowed on my lake and its usually an oval track, so its really wide and fun to go slideways, or i could take you across the lake on the snowmobile trails thats always a good time flyin by fish houses at like 50 :)

You might want to think about doing one of the Winter Road Rally events up North. I know they have one that goes from Duluth to Grand Marais on day one then back to Duluth on day two after an overnight stay .

These are Time Speed Distance (TSD) events that are run at the speed limit in your daily driver and encourage staying on course and time. Good practice for transits for those who want to get in to stage rally (Dan & Sara?).

I'll post of up link in the events section later.
