Hey guys, I'm thinking about joining a gym, but I cant decide between gold's or lifetime. Lifetime has a lot of equips. but golds is cheaper. Opinions???
I go to golds in BP and its ok. But for 10$/month u can't beat that. I use to work at lifetime and I refuse to workout there. I just don't like the atmosphere there...but a lot to look at if u know what I mean. But my choice would be golds out of those 2
What are your goals and what are you looking for out of a gym? Powerlifting? Do you need a platform, monolith, spotters who know what they're doing? Machines? Cardio? Reminds me that I need to find a new gym this winter. Although 28cents a month is hard to give up.
I just got into LA Fitness for $25/Month I am happy with it. It isn't too crowded. I have had memberships to Norwest, Lifetime, Ballys and Anytime. I like LA Fitness and can't beat $25/month. With 12 visit a month and Heath Partners ($20 rebate) that is $5/month with the health insurance discount.
Well, I'm just looking for a gym with a good atmosphere. Not too many people around. And just a place to get back into shape, since winter is coming around. Anyone been to the gold's gym in Blaine? There or lifetime in fridley are my choices. Lol, I don't really need sauna or pool. I have that at home.
For myself.... the biggest factor is location. Find somewhere that isn't too far away that you like. I found that when I had to drive 15 minutes to lifetime vs 3 minutes to Anytime, I was more likely to skip out on going to lifetime. We choose LA Fitness because one opened up 5 minutes away. I do like the bigger - chain gyms myself. There is always something to do. You don't get stuck working the same machines over and over again. To someone like my wife who was a personal trainer in college this isn't a big deal. But to someone like myself who doesn't know a million things to do with 1 weight it is nice to have options. For example, cardio on machines wasn't sounding like fun last week so we decided to just shoot some hoops for a bit. It is also nice to be able to have a bunch of different machines / free weights to choose from. I think the wife digs the classes the most.
Lifetime is closer. And it's 24/7, plus it's on my way home from work and school. But gold's os another 8 miles in blaine. Damn, choices... You guys think it'll eventually equal out with all that driving?
I say go in and try it out. I know some golds do a free 7day trial (not all offer this) and when I was at lifetime they did a free day pass. So go in and try them out. Some gyms also have like a 30 day money back if it doesn't work out for u for some reason
