Which on should i choose?

Well im in the market for a subaru. I want a Wagon wrx but i dont know what year i want?

my brother has an 02 so im not really wanting two bugeyes so i was thinking 04-05??

the 06 wrx are way too expensive. So which one guys im asking for your ideas.

i heard the 02-03 wrx has tranny problems?? is this true?

and if you guys could post pics of your wagons it would be cool too so i would know which years i like better.

Most WRXs due have tranny probs... Just dont drive like a doosh and you will be fine. besides, What wrong with two bugeyes? You can never go wrong with that.... IMO the bugeye wagon is the sexiest of them all.

 

05 has a faster steering rack, which I love. 04s are really slow to me. Other than that you can't really go wrong. Also automatic climate control in the 05s as well.

As for the tranny it has been said that the 02-03 has a weaker tranny (one reason I held out till I could afford an 04) but buy what you like the most.

P.S. my next Subaru, if I decided to go that route will be a wrx wagon 06+, LGT wagon 05+, 08 wrx/sti or OBS/GF.

There's nothing wrong with two Bugeyes. I think its cool. My neighbor upstair(a Subie girl) have the EXACT subie as mine. Only thing thats different is her exhaust system. Same 02 yr/model, silver, stock look.

well, you could say I got a little more visual then her but she got a better ECU then me. Looks pretty cool in the garauge together.

But if you want to go wagon, I'll go with 04/05 wagons. Looks damn nice with some rims.

 

how can she have a better ECU then you? your car is an 02 and so is hers did you black out when you typed this?

 

I think the 04/05 wagons look a lot better than the 02/03. Don't know a lot about the tranny issues, but when I was looking, I heard the same thing about the bugeye trannys. However, I have a buddy with an 03, stage 2, and he beats the **** out of his tranny...no probs yet. He's owned it for at least a year now.

I suppose this means nothing. Just thought I'd share my .02

As far as Tranny issus on the bugeye, I haven't experienced any as I am not lauching my car from a stop. The only complaint I have is the issue of getting back into first from a roll of about 10mph or so, but thats the case with most cars. Double clutching does help sometimes.

If was going to buy another WRX I would get the 2.5 dohc. +06

 

The getting into first isn't a problem if you can double clutch. Although sometimes it just works with a bit of rev matching.

 

02 for sure buy it cheap and stick a set of RA gears in and potential problem solved.

I had this same "problem"... I went with an '05 wag.

Now, yes, our cars *are* different colors. I'm crystal gray metallic, she's plat'num foo.

price range from a GF8 wagon thorugh to current models are a somewhat broad spectrum...

if you have under $12G then bugeye... under $20 then it opens up to choice more.. NEW then get an 06-07.. the 2.5 engine kicks arse...
