i know i've seen a few of you say that you work at a shop with a waterjet. i could use those services and would rather give the business to someone i know. lmk Justin
Polvolny specialties in Saint Paul has a Calypso, Talk to Mike Polvolny there, he is a huge car guy and pretty good guy, tell him that Harlow From Radan sent you. Give me a call if you can't find him in the book, I could get his number HEF
small world. we rent our shop from mike. he already has made me some samples, i just would like to get a few different quotes.
Radan, the manufacturing software company? Also, depending on what you need justin, I may be able to do some small stuff on the weekends. If Laser-cut is fine.
Justin, Is there some reason why you want water jet?? What are the fit, finish, thickness, and accuracy requirements on the parts? There are a ton of shops that have lasers capable of cutting thick, I might be able to find you something that is better suited. I work for Radan (CNC cutting software) as an App Engineer so I know most of the shops around that profile sheet metal. HEF
i havent used laser before but isnt the waterjet a bit nicer finish on the cut? basically right now i need some flanges cut out of .25" and .5" 304 stainless.
If you need enough flanges cut to fill a 156in x 44in nest I would say I can do it for about 5% above cost. On a laser, but then you'd have to ship it. Waterjet, in my experience, is usually only used on very thick stuff. or if you need to cut a few sheets at a time.
Justin, Get ahold of my buddy Sparky at discount steel. Tell him that T.J. told you to call. 612-877-4701
Justin, You should actually be able to laser cut these, most machines would be able to do this, Discount cirtainly could. You could try Mcneilus, they are a little far away but they have a heavy plate laser and a Mazak that could do that. My opinion is that the laser will give you a more accurate cut, but depending on what you are cutting a high def plasma may be the most econimical route. My bet is that mike is fairly competitive, and close also. HEF
man i didnt even think about mcneilus...nial(mr mcneilus's son) mcneilus is my cousin inlaw. discount is closer though.
Twin City Metalfab laser cuts a decent amount of SS, and they're right off of Snelling north of 94. This is the worst edge quality that you will get out of a laser. Full disclosure: I'm a laser engineer for Mazak and that edge quality could use some cleaning up.
I had my buddy Sparky make me some parts cut with the water jet, and I couldn't believe the quality. The pieces looked die cut almost.
