I live in mankato minnesota and was wondering if anyone in the area that you would suggest for a good reliable tune? I was hoping that I could find someone that would know something about e-85 because I would like some advice on what size injector to use? My motor is running at8:1 compression and would like to know if anyone here has givin it a try?

You are going to need injectors that will flow 30% more than a setup for regular gasoline.

Is this question on a Subie or just tune in general?
I find the subaru quiet unique and wouldn't trust just anyone.

+1 on that, especially with e85.

IMHO, if you want to run the stuff you better learn how to tune it yourself. The outcome can be very good if done correctly. :)

Tom, in previous conversations, you said E85 can vary quite a bit on the mix of petrol to ethanol. Therefore you had to rescale the injectors, sometimes for each tank of fuel. Correct?

Yup. The ethanol content varies depending on the time of year. I think the highest content occurs in July and then begins to taper off after that. I would typically fine tune my injector scaling every other fill up -- it really helps to have a permanant mount wb02 sensor if you want to run this stuff.

So, if somebody still insists to get a real e85 tune, get it done in July. Otherwise, you risk running leaner than your tuner intended during peak ethanol content month(s).

I'm thinking of tuning for e85 eventually, but I'm not sure what all needs to be done to the fueling system. I know I have the injector capacity, but I don't know what else needs to be changed. Anybody know?

^^ I dunno how much I agree with that. We've been running e10 (oxygenated) for years now. Cars are made to withstand Ethanol.

Yeah, but on how old of a car?

Newer Subies have all viton rubber components in their fuel systems. Viton won't break down from exposure to alcohol.
