I need a layer of bodyfiller over my carbon fiber hood. It has cracks in the gel coat and i want to get the hood painted. I got quotted 300 to do the bodyfiller and 400 to paint the hood silver. I am fine with the painting but i dont want to pay that much for the filler. Is there anyone on here that would do this for me if i pay you cash? if you will send me a PM with a price.

    Thanks Nick,

    PS Heres a pic

Fill her? I just met her.

I digress. If you're at the point of painting a CF hood wouldn't putting the stocker back on be a lighter/cheaper solution?

UM no. He is running an RS hood since he has a FMIC way heavier than the stock WRX hoods or a CF painted.

why dont you just put a layer of fiberlgass over it instead...it would be alot lighter and would last longer than the body filler.

I don’t really care what is done to it as long as it works. I am totally open to suggestions. I am very unfamiliar with CF

Nick:: jb05sti has a good point. Glass may be better to use than the filler. How deep are the cracks in the gel coat? If you sanded it down, you may get lucky and just have to lay down a couple layers of clear. Clear will fill minor cracks depending on their depth. If you really want to paint it, the same could be said for surfacer, again depending on the depth of the cracks. You may be able to skip the filler all together.

I also have a buddy who will do sidework. He lives in Farmington. Let me know if you want to talk to him

How about a WRX hood with a reverse scoop? Unless you want it as clean as possible...

If you're going to fix the cracks with glass before you paint it, make sure you glass both sides of the crack, otherwise it will crack again.
