So this is proof that Cats in up-pipes are a horrible thing to have, even more so if your going to mod anything (engine wise) before replacing this joke of a part!

The cat broke and took out the turbo! Oh Nooeesss!!!!111unouno

what a good excuse to upgrade turbo's then. maybe i should go put my stock u/p with catin. then it will force me to get a new turbo sooner.

So I take it that the OEM cat in the uppipe would be fine as long as the engine is running fine. It would take a lot of heat and pressure to break apart the cat converter. i.e., things like running too rich and getting back fires in the exhaust manifold.

Or running tuning with that freakin cat in so it gets hotter, and more pressure run through it. More hp=more heat and pressure!

The car was factory, but who knows how it was treated by the previous owner. No, thank god it wasn't my car, cause the checking account wouldn't look so pretty after the VF34 woulda shipped out!!

It was under warranty so the car is now rolling around with a new up-pipe and a new TD04 Turbo. How boring!
