Up in Rogers? Didn't notice the MN-Subaru sticker until we were leaving. Nice looking car, sounds great.

My co-workers are getting bikes this year, too. One's getting a Yamaha roadster (reminds me of Cloud's bike in Final Fantasy 7) and the other one is getting an R7 for his kid.

Minnesota Motorcycle Safety Center hosts classes all around the state. See http://www.motorcyclesafety.state.mn.us/.

It's a pretty good deal, you get your permit, take the class, and if you pass, you get your endorsement.

The R1's are super hot. Waaay to much bike for the street, but really f'ing cool. Couple years back they offered black with flames from the factory, every time I see one I get a hard on.

Chances are your going to drop whatever your first bike is, so make it a beater until you get a year or 2 under your belt.

great class to take if you are a beginner on a motorcycle, took that class about 2 1/2 years ago when i first got my R6 (blue/white mind you):p anyway you learn a ton, and its an easy way to get your license because you take your test on a little 250 honda. Good choice on bike, although if you are a beginner you will NOT use the r1 to its full potential, if i was in your shoes (i was) i would get the r6; plenty of power. Then in a couple of years you should get the R1, belive me when i say this that bike is too much for a beginner.

Just get an R6. Unless you want to spend the extra money for an R1, then new plastic once you drop it.

The R1 is far too much bike for anyone. Even professional riders can't bring it to its limit. My buddy works at Moto Primo and calls me down there every week to get a deal on a bike, but he said he'd never allow me to get an R1, he knows i'd kill myself in 3 days on it. Get an R6 if its your first bike.
P.S. if you need a bike, let me know, i can call my buddy and see what he can do for you.

My first road bike was a 2000 Suzuki TL1000R... yeah everyone said I was stoopid.. I said stooopid is what stupid does... I am just careful how I ride... I am not wooried so much about me cause I dont want to crash so I dont do too much stooopid stuff...

I learnt to ride a 400cc trail bike when I was 8.. yes 8 on a farm in Australia... needless to say I snapped my leg on that one.... ha ha ha

I dont know too much about R1s but from what I hear it may be a lot of bike... the TL has some serious balls but it isnt as punchy as these new bikes...

best advice.. be smart and watch out for the drivers on the road most of all cause they dont watch out for you

Yeah but a TL1000 and a 1000cc inline four are much, much different creatures, the problem with buying a r1 is that the bike has so much power you'll get yourself into trouble so fast you won't be able to react to it properly, that's the real danger, it not really because anyone thinks you are an idiot and will ride like one, again the problem lies in you getting in to trouble faster than you can get out, at very least a r6 won't be as likely to do the same to you, although it surely can... I think finding a beginner bike for a couple years is well served advice, learn to ride, I see people all the time on liter bikes, that have never seen any turns, heck Kentucky fried chicken is chasing thes bikes down, wondering were they can get chicken strips that big... Not that I'm the greatest rider ever, because I'm surely not, I would still not buy a 1000cc inline four, too much everything, and probably the most boring biek I've ridden? A Gixxer 750, why/ because it's not fun under a 100, and I like my driver's license and my freedom.

I've cahnged my tune too, the perfect beginner bike? IMHO a super motard.

oh and R1's are the sex.
