In Forza Motorsport 4, of course... I feel a Big Ginger Forza night coming on. If anyone feels like being annoyed by my comical lack of car control and high lap times, feel free to send a message to be via XBL. Gamertag is the same as my username here.
I think I'm going to subscribe to this thread, this could be a blast. SafetyHazard is my XBL Gamertag. Got Forza 4 and Horizon, and I'm terrible at track racing games. There's so little feedback when your car is on the edge.
Set a date/time, and I'll be there. I can more easily attend events if I know about them in advance, as my gaming time is usually random times during the day.
Heh, I didn't intend for this thread to be a running deal, but I'm happy to use it as such. Patrick (o2subbiers) ended up running a little B-class. I happened to notice three other MNS folks were on so I messaged all of you. I can set something up with a little notice if people want to do that.
I have a kinect mic, but I keep it off because have a bunch of fans in the room (no AC) and it sounds horrible.
Any kind of headset works for a mic btw. $10 cheapy disposable cellphone headsets are just fine. I don't get the downhill crowd, probably won't be bothering with that again for a while.
Not gonna play on awesomeburg GP? If you're worried about not knowing the course, just know that you're guaranteed to do better than me.
I think he only does the downhill. I generally don't get jiggy with any kind of race that is open to all classes. I'll either R1 own everyone or spend the whole time trying to figure out an appropriate car for the current pack.
Good times last nite on Forza with a pirate and an old man. Even though I was dead last every race. LOL Looking forward to more drinking and driving.
I wish I would have saved the replay of the close race, second to the last one I did. Won by 0.04 seconds and jumped off the couch screaming. GF was more than confused. Good times! This needs to be a regular thing.
Definitely good times, now I gotta go and build me up some Class D cars. LOL I had like only 2 when I joined the races last night.
Yar, and Surly, I maybe on tonight, after 8pm I don't stay on too late on weekdays, my wife won't let me ;(. My headset works, but anytime I use it people tell me I keep cutting out
Party chat solves that more often than not. Something about the implementation of audio streams in public chat is pretty horrible. I'm not available tonight. Doesn't mean you guys can't work something out.
RACIN' TONIGHT, 8-ISH, B-CLASS ON WHATEVER TRACKS PEOPLE WANT (10 NORDSCHLEIFE LAPS FULL DAMAGE). ALLCAPS. Whoever is reading this and hasn't already done it, if you're interested in some Forzaing, add me (yarpirate) on xbox live and be amazed at how much more awesome my avatar is than anyone else's in the universe.
Ditto! Next time we should do B-class motegi so I have less clue wtf. I've clicked off probably hundreds of laps on Mugello and the Ring in FM2.
^^^LOL same here. I had to tune a bunch of my different classed cars just to keep up with these guys. Next time we should do random maps with a certain class in mind.
Will try to make it tonight - xbox live gamertag is SafetyHazard, and you'll see why once I start racing.
Most of the cars I run are either untuned (just has performance parts slapped on to meet the PI), or tuned but I've never run them before (from my club garage). In any case, it's not a lot of work to keep up with the pack, since we have people of such varying skill levels. It's a lot of fun, and it would be great to have a bigger crowd!
I like the idea of running a handicapped spec race to keep people close together, as discussed in chat. Who else would be up for something like that? Essentially I'd commission one of the more well-known tuners in the game to put together a set of same model, similarly tuned cars with a couple different levels of nerfing done (probably hold back engine build or something) to level out the playing field. If someone starts walking away with laptimes, they would drop down to the next slowest build thus handicapping them appropriately. If we do something like that, everyone can still race balls-out according to their skill/style and still have people close by to race with.
We could do certain races with only FWD, RWD or AWD in certain classes too. This would put everyone pretty close in races so that some aren't racing AWD cars against RWD or FWD.
I have no problems with any restrictions people would like to try to even things out. I'll say that drivetrain configuration isn't as important as you may think in a lot of cases. AWD is nerfed a little too harshly in FM4, but there are still good places for it (Tsukuba comes to mind).
I don't think other than class type, there is a need to even things up. Get better or you will always be in last. Come on Pete, it's like handing out participation ribbons
How about everyone drives the same car, we start out 10 seconds apart, do 5 laps of (track), and set it so that the winner is the one with the fastest lap?
Because that wouldn't be racing. Tran, the tough part is balancing skill levels. I could set it to force stock tuning and upgrades on a single specific model of car. You're still going to have people spread way out all over the track. Needs a handicapping method.
