Hi, Does anybody know why the subaru oem fuel pump costs so much when compared to a known performance walbaro fuel pump????
The same reason that 2002-2004 WRX Wheels, when purchased from the dealership, cost more than 17" Semi-forged SSR C-Comps: Profit. If you are in desperate need of a stock fuel pump, I'd check out a junk yard or post a WTB: on one of the big boards (NASIOC, i-club, clubwrx.net).
I'm just wondering, not looking right now, just wondering, I guess the dealership is all about profit making on us, same with the oem subaru company, all about profit making. As far as the United States economy goes, walbaro must be meant to be made in america, i guess thats why it's cheap. So many performance driven people wanting to buy something better. I'll probaly hold my oem fuel pump just in case I need to do a trade in.
i have a stock WRX pump. layign around let me know if you want it. came off Readymix's car... gotta be worth something.
its called turning a profit, heaven forbid an automobile company does that. if you only wanted the pump itself it wouldnt be very expensive at all, but subaru sells them as entire assemblies, with sending units, wiring, strainers, ect ect, things cost money. your walbro will only come by itself
Bwahahahahaha! What a concept! Making money through selling parts. Maybe GM, Ford, and Chrysler should look into this novel scheme the Japanese auto industry has come up with.
The Walbro 255lph is cheaper than a stock Nissan fuel pump too. Oh noes! Nissan's in on the scam too!
I saw an ad on ebay, don't know if it's a scam picturing the entire walbro assembly for $100.00 shipped. The full assembly including the do it yourself tube cut connector of the suction filter through the pump.
yeah, just commenting on a price. I'm just surprised, I thought that performance parts means pay more money. If i knew that something out there was way better than the stock oem part on a vehicle and it was so much cheaper, i'll definitely buy that. I might be buying one tommorrow, 245lph, and hold onto it for future maintenance.
It's 255lph if it's from walbro and 100 for the kit isn't a great price, but not bad either. http://www.gruppe-s.com/Subaru/subeng.htm gruppe-s has them for $90 with the installation kits and shipped for free, although I'd call to make sure they have them in stock first
well..he's actually buying mines...i have a brand new still TRE 255lph pump that i dont need...but since like walbro that you have to cut and install..its actually not bad..i got it for about 90ish...but selling it for 50 bucks...so...its a good deal..still new..and easy to install.. and plus...i know a lot of people are annoyyed by this thread..because he's not buying anything yet...but isn't this in the right area?? hhaha..but anyways...
No, this thread belongs at www.retardville.duh Bigger does not equal better. And dealerships have to turn a profit on parts. That's how their parts departments stay in business. Just because they flow less than a Walbro doesn't mean it has to cost less than a Walbro. Hell, Buschur Racing was selling a pump that flowed more than a standard walbro, but that's because they were smacking a dent in the pump diaphram of a standard Walbro....and selling it for over a 150 bucks more than a standard walbro. Price does not reflect quality or performance, although I don't question Walbro's performance. Regardless, this was a stupid thread to begin with. You aren't buying one, but are bitching about the price of an OEM one? Just buy the damn walbro if the OEM price sucks so bad.
RSMotors had Walbros for $95 w/ free kit when i got one for my T-Lego. I have the old pump sitting around which is supposed to be => the wrx pump if you cant find one
This thread makes my brain hurt. I think Demong should have to start PM'ing his thread ideas to a Mod and they can approve or round file it. I vote round file for this thread.
Is that why you went with the fuel pump? just kidding Brian. I had to do it, you opened the door for that one.
