Just curious why they have the cover plates with STi emblem but no fogs underneath. Anyone have any wisdom on that? I think some fogs would be nice.

They never came with them from the factory unless the car was ordered that way. Subaru sells the kit for them, as they are prewired. You just need the new bezels, and the lights/relay, and switch.

foglights were an option, but you can't use the covers with the fogs, it is either/or. Which makes them not really covers I suppose.

It is, but the light kit doesn't weigh very much. I would know.

Maybe even less. The fog lamps are small, although they have Glass lenses. They still don't weigh much. Eat less fast food, and you can counter-act that weight gain from the fogs in less than a week... LOL

are the fog kits that you can buy/order for the STi, similar to the ones that come on a regular 04/05 Rex...the little round ones...about golf ball size? rather than the big ones on the bug eye models?

Yes, the STI 04-05 is no different than the WRX 04-05. 99% of all WRX parts 04-05 will fit the STi.

Check out the Morries threads! Brooklyn Park and Minnetonka both offer members of MNSubaru a club discount... Might be the cheaper route. ;)

Look at the top two threads...

I'm not sure either. Brett and Kevin may still offer the discount. You'd have to call them.

If you pop out the bezel that goes around the fogs, you can put the cover over the fogs if you wanna change it up. I am pretty sure that another reason the STI didn't come with fogs is that they are almost useless next to the HID's.

good point about the HID's. I will check out the discounts, thanks. I almost took a job at BP Subaru. Everything went to the final stages, but ultimately they were not able to guarantee the accommodation of my school schedule---one night a week. Oh well...

    Thanks for the tips.

IIRC The JDM 04/05 fog lights are larger than the usdm ones. I think they would be about softball sized compared to golf ball sized. just something to think about.

I had the JDM fogs, you would have to modify your bumper beam to accomodate them.

Sorry, HAD the JDM fogs. They are in a box in my garage now.

How much modifying? Did you ever use them, or just decide it wasn't worth messing with and boxed them? I've been interested in getting the bigger lights, the small ones don't do much.

Oh yeah, they've been used. They both got giant cracks in them in the first year I had them. Now one of the bezels is being used to funnel air to the enginebay and the lamps themselves are in a box in my garage. Honestly, I've seen some guys put PIAA fogs into those JDM bezels and it looked alright.

You have to take out about a 4 piece on each end of the bumper beam. Or you could just buy the JDM bumper beam, lots of money though.
