Here is a list of things I have dealt with in the past week while trying to protune an 06 STi w/ a cobb accessport 2.0... First off, the interface is SLOW. It takes it damn near a minute before you can do ANYTHING. The new and improved firmware.... yeah after the update it was stuck at the "updating screen". Would do nothing else. It takes two days before there is a new "update" to fix the last "update" The protuner v1.5 software is complete junk... you have to use the old serial cable to connect for live tuning. You cannot use the new USB cable yet. Here is the "workaround" to be able to realtime tune a car with an accessport 2.0: 1.) unmarry from car. 2.) make base map. 3.) put basemap on accessport 4.) flash car using accessport 5.) NOW you can start playing the game of "which version of the protuner update will connect to the car?". They are on v1.5.0.5.... it didn't work... however 1.5.0.1 did. NOW you can finally realtime tune the car. This process honestly took 6 hours, and russ can vouch for that. Realtime tuning is slow... you are still using the serial cable... Finally the car is running well.. 800cc injectors on a stage 2 sti makes for one torquey car. Export map to accessport 2.0 format, the program may freeze... chances are it will. Put map on accessport 2.0. Flash base map. and the kicker... the absolute BEST part about the process... We go to drive the car one last time to make sure it's still running well. IT DIDN'T TAKE THE FLASH! The car was running awesome on its stock map.... :ugh: I don't blame Russ for not wanting to tune an ap2.0, it's a joke. Releasing a product before R&D is done is just not a good business strategy. Cliffs: AP2.0 for the lose.
Boy, I wish we had someone on here who could tune ECUs and save us the hassles that Steve-O went through...
I openecu tuned a stage 2 wrx yesterday..... it went wayyy smoother. Except for the fujita intake complication.
If there was realtime tuning with openecu (I know they are close) it would be the preferred tuning platform of everyone I believe.
UPDATE: Customer was driving the car, got a CEL... pulled the code... p0420. Just checked the map, the code is supposed to be disabled. So it like flashed half the rom or something. :ugh:
Finally got my car tuned for my stage 2 setup with enginuity. Runs great, took a lot of studying and reading, but its actually pretty simple. Can't wait for RAMtune...launch control...etc
Did another open ecu car this week with GREAT results. If I could get a live version (can't wait for it to come out) I'll be golden.
It will be awesome when launch control is released to the general public with openecu before cobb has it. :hsugh:
heh, I could have launch control right now (if I cared about it) because I'm cool like that. It's totally functional and has been working for a few months now. Same goes with per-gear WG control on select ecus.
