I just bought a set of wheels that already had tires on them. I don't really like the look because I have no aftermarket suspension and would rather have tires that fit. If I removed the stretched tire would it be unusable or warped permanently? Pictures of the stretch:
Why do you ask? Resale? Want to use them on different rims? As far as I'm concerned, the integrity of the tire has been compromised. Remove and dispose of...then throw some proper rubber on them and enjoy! Nice rims btw. They could look alot better tho! -Josh
Im planning on getting much wider tires to actually fit the wheel. Im more Function >>>>> Form I would like to sell them if I could haha.
Well they look like they have decent tread left. But if it was me, I wouldn't sell them to anyone. Or if i did, i guess i'd go with full disclosure so that they know what they could be getting themselves into.
From the pictures it is difficult to see the full condition of the stretch. I bought snow tires for my aftermarket wheels and they were stretched by a half inch. I ran them for a winter and then put them on some stock tires I purchased. There was no damage and the tires showed no signs of issues, from the mounting to drivability. Throw some better pictures up and check them for fatigue cracks. What's the date on them as well?
I don't think there would be an issue. As long as they look like they haven't seen any track use, ( I really doubt it with that type of stretch) there really isn't any type of failure in the tire integrity. You can also look at the insides of the tires ounce they have been pulled, you can easily tell if there is any sidewall damage by looking at the interior.
With that few miles, unless there's visible damage to the sidewalls, I'd run them without concern. On a properly sized rim, of course.
Do all of us a favor and take the tires off, stack them over the previous owner and then roll them down a hill.
