Might need spacers for the front doors or ur window might hit it when you row down the windows all the way.

don't do it- you can get better speakers for $50-70 less new elsewhere.

Use best buy money for something they have more competitive prices on- dvd's, cd's, mp3 stuff?

Well it's funny you ask, I just got Alpine Type S 6 1/2's and 5 1/4's and I took apart my drivers side door (keep in mind my car is parked on the street) to find out they don't fit. So now I sit at home trying to make them fit, the magnet hit my window. So hopefully this 5/8" spacer I'm making out of MDF will fit!

On a side note Taras if your not running an amp to those speakers it would be more cost affective to go with the Type S IMHO.

I personally don't buy much from EBAY, also they were a gift. I am a Alpine kinda person, I have bought many products from them and they have been nothing but great products.

Not trying to say you don't know a thing or two Silence I just prefer Alpine.

Kicker Comp VR - blown, got so hot that the glue holding the cone on separated
Infinity Kappa Perfect - blown, just plain old blew it up
Alpine Type R - adjusted the gain the day I got it just to blow it up, and still kicking. Not to mention one of the best sound quality woofers I have heard IMO.

On a side not is there any where around here that fixes blown woofers? Or does anyone have any use for a blown Infinity Kappa Perfect 12" or Kicker Comp VR 12"?

I didn't even say not to get alpine- I have run a lot of alpine stuff in the past and it's great. I don't share your assessment of the subs, but the speakers, source units, and processing are great. I feel the subs are overpriced and overhyped more so than the rest of their product line though.

for what those cost at best buy (in the first post) one should be able to get better alpine components from a reputable online seller as well. I just used ebay because it was quick and easy to start pulling options.

Personally, my favorites in that price range are jbl/infinity and mbquart but alpine isn't far behind either.

about those blown subs- they aren't worth repairing imo

also, do you know how to set your gains with a dmm? not saying you did anything wrong, but blown subs are almost always install/user error.

The Infinity was an error and the Kicker well the magnet is like half the size of the Alpine I have now.

    that can be misleading though-

for example- my mtx 9500 10" i have sitting here is 3x as heavy and with a 4x larger visibly magnet than the stereo integrity BMs that i rock in the mercedes. Yet, the BMs handle about as much power and get much louder while doing it.

Are the speaker rings worth the money if these rings I'm making don't work?

no- you can almost always make better rings than anything you can buy. you have the right idea. don't be afraid to use sound deadener to "seal" those in place.
