I was wondering what steps any of you might take for storing your E85 set ups over the winter months. Any suggestions would be awesome! and i know it might be a bit early to start bring it up but i'd rather have it all ready to go when the time comes.
Very interested in more on this topic as well since I'll be storing the sti this winter and its also on E85. I don't believe that E85 is as stable as regular pump gas, and I'm not sure if you can use that Stabil gas treatment stuff on E85...
agreed, all i've read is to run it dry then put some pump gas in it with stabil...which is all fine and dandy but then wouldn't this mess my tune all up?
Says effective in all gasolines including ethanol blends?....anyone have experience? http://www.goldeagle.com/mobile/products/4_oz_Bottle_Treats_10_gallons.aspx
maybe run like 2-3 bottles of it? cause from what i learned from working with small engines is "blends" was assuming e10 or pump with ethanol. right, i was just saying everything i read said nothing about the tune which made me scratch my head
So what I did last winter was.... left it full and finished my build this year and ran the same gas at startup. ......
so straight up leave the full tank with no additives? and just run it the next spring? no issues with it leaning out or nothing?
The big thing is just don't go beat the hell out of it on the winter storage gas. When I parked mine for the winter, I just parked it with a full tank and pulled the battery. Before I fired it up in the spring, I put in new oil and just drove the car. Just DD, low boost, just drive stuff. Ran that tank almost completely dry and went from there. Next tank of gas, you should be good to go for the normal beatings. I guess I wouldn't worry about maps or anything since a fall tank of gas is only going to last you less than 300 miles. Russ
Good advice Russ. Mike - don't forget, if you are also running summer tires, those should also be stored is a warm place (temps of about 45 degrees Fahrenheit or above). I"m going to be storing my summer wheels/tires inside and throwing on my stockers with all seasons for the winter.
