Different car, different application. I wouldn't mind one to modify the hell out of with one really large, or two large turbos and the associated barrage of modifications. It would be cool to have one with 1000+ whp to simply dominate with. I wouldn't want one for the winter though.
That is one sick looking Camaro. My only gripe about them is that the interior is so chinsey, it makes the tan interior in my 95 Impreza look like that of a Bentley. I think I would be more apt to trade for one of these: View attachment 20227
has anyone ever parked a new Camero? Seriously a 3500 full cab long box has less blind spots then one of those. parking aside, i agree, totally different application of a vehicle, can it hold 2 bikes, skis, or my canoe? doubt it. does it look bad ass and is fast? Fo Sho. bottom line you need both or that and something more practical.
i dont have my subaru anymore but i wouldnt have traded it for that other than to sell it for a porsche lol. i cant stand the way those look. i hated transformers so i cant say the new camaro looks any better after it was showcased in the film. and im not really a fan of the way they made the older and way beautiful camaro look a little less original. they copied their old design and after so many years of it looking good it now looks similar to the ugly heap they just came out with. its HUGE!!! i dont like big cars unless they are VIP cars like audi, bently, bmw and so on. i really dislike the new design. i wish they had tried something new. like totally redesign the car. not take a step into the past. cute idea but they failed when the new camaro was sooooo huge. just my thoughts on the new-retro car designs ive seen
For what I ask my car to do, no. Daily + plus auto-x + rally-x + haul + winter at a good price point. No other vehicle made today is so versatile. I would need two other vehicles to match what my one Subaru does. Is that a cool car? Heck yeah.
No, for 2 reasons. I've driven one, and wasn't impressed. It was an automatic and the "paddle" shifters were a joke, visibility sucked, but the looks you got were pretty nice haha. Also, I chose a subaru over anything else in the 25-40k price range because I wasn't about to drop that much dough on something that would be parked in my garage for what seems to be half the year.
Choose over my Subaru, no. Choose in addition to, sure. This design looks soooo much better than the 70's I had and a LOT better than the '85 I had.
Actually, I'm pretty sure this will "rumble" a hell of a lot better than a Subaru. Having almost triple the displacement will do that for an engine note. I'm not sure if it's really a fair comparison to try and compare any Subaru model to one of these, as the cars are in a different category completely. Martin, I like where you were going with the classic Mustang. I think the new Mustang coming out with the new 5.0 motor is going to be the one to watch. It'll be down about 10hp to the Camaro, but it'll weigh almost 500lbs less. Considering how far each of those cars has come, I think it's great that the pony cars are back at it again.
In short, no. In long, nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. A lot of comprimises were made to get the proper engines in those cars. Since I'd spend most of my time behind the wheel, I'd probably shell out another couple of grand just to make the interior livable (not like a WRX dash is advanced, but Camaro's are straight ugly). Looking at the outside, I'd need to spend another couple grand on a valance/lip kit. The one thing that bothers the hell out of me is the mufflers in the back. You can see about an inch of the can peeking out from beneath the rear diffuser. What's the point of having the exhaust tips exit through the valence if you're not going to hide the mufflers properly? Essentially, by the time I'd spent enough time and money making it into the proper sports car it needs to be, I'd rather just get a C6 Corvette and have a car with better all-around potential. The engine sounds cool, though.
Looks like grimmpeen's place. And also i would have to pass on that. I'm a fan of the looks, but dont want.
I wanted one until I drove one. It's a great value for the price, but felt too large for me... It felt heavy, it handled sloppy, the blind spots were huge, etc... 100% preference, but I like driving compact and precise cars. I still like the looks and the power delivery and would own one if I could afford it along with my current cars. But I also feel like I'd end up trading it after 1 or 2 summers. Lee, of course there is going to be less attention spent on certain aspects. Same could be said of the c6z06 in comparison to a 911 turbo. Same could be said of a 911 turbo in comparison to a f430... I hear you though. The corners they did cut would drive me nuts too. But for what it is, I'd be very happy with it. It's just not what I'm looking for. I'm hoping the 2011 mustang gt feels (and is) smallish so I can talk janet into trading the lgt for one. Like Brian alluded to, it's great for the whole industry when we see this level of competition and one upsmanship.
I'm a fan of the look, but that thing is f'in GINORMOUS. It was like they went "we're gonna design this thing around the classic Carmaro, and we're gonna make it weigh more too.....We'll just slam more HP in to make up for the difference."
I totally understand that the corners cut were kind of small, but the interior is literally unbearable for me. I would have to tear the whole thing apart and re-do it myself. Even coming from a Honda and Subaru background, I feel like the interior is cheap as hell. Now, if I could find a way to get the power delivery into my car... thats' a different story. Wasn't there a guy that shoe-horned an LS engine into a bugeye? Hmm...
I had this argument on MNSC. The LS(whatever) engine even being all aluminum weighs as much as the Subaru engine+trans+turbo+intercooler. Weight distribution sucks on Subaru, think of it with an extra 100 lbs in the very front of the car.
My wrx would be gone for one of those.... Would not even think about it. Then I would buy a cheap AWD impreza for the winter and a DD.
mmmm RWD V8 ftw! though personally i would buy a g8 GXP just preference however. so my answer is HELL YES I WOULD!
A 60's camaro yes, anything newer, hell no... ugly as sin.. Just like the new challenger, looks nice in pics, but i'm not a fan of the new trend of cars becoming massive tanks... even import cars like civics etc are getting to be HUGE.. kinda takes the whole point of them away...
I'd trade mine up, definitely. Not for the car itself, but simply because that is worth more than mine is.
