Couple questions about the above suject.

    1. Is it necessary?
    2. What positives come from it?
    3. What negatives come from it?
    4. Who here does it and what does it cost?

    1. no
    2. retaining heat in headers/uppipe helps spool. and by keeping the heat in the pipe, you reduce or delay the onset of heat soak.
    3. the wrap can soak up fluids. if said fluids are flamable, you get the samoan tikki torch efect. also, if the piece is uncoated, the wrap can trap moisture/salt and speed up corrosion.
    4. you couls do it with cans of high temp spray paint, and some wrap. thermo tec is what i used. wet the wrap right before you start, wrap tight and overap a little. bends and bellmouths are a bitch to get the right overlap. secure the bottem and top with dei wrap ties.
to do it you self, you would spend $40 maybe.

    ^ exactly right.

i did mine w/ DEI heat wrap. and DEI spray silicone. cost me about $60 for the wrap and spray. i had enough to do my DP and my UP. plus enough for justin to do his UP.

you could always get them coated. justin is cermically coating exhuast parts. good rust provention.
