Wrong address fine amount?

I got pulled over today going 48 in a 35 and the officer was really nice and let me off with just a warning for that and give me a ticket for not having my current address on my license. I know I have to pay the $15 or whatever for changing my address on my drivers license but does anyone know what the fine amount is for the offense?

 

it might just be a fix it ticket type...

on another note, how the hell does he know it's not your address?

 

I was polite to him to avoid getting a speeding ticket and I told him the truth. That has gotten me out of trouble before. And it isn't a fix it ticket. He told me it was a small fine.

 

my guess. insurance card may have had different address

 

address on the insurance sheet, address at which the car is registered...

Get that taken care of.

Thanks scuba. That is exactly what I was looking for. I have just been lazy and not changed my address since I moved a couple of months ago. And believe me, my wife has told me about 37 times so she won't be happy about this. Haha

 

And 98 is a hell of a lot better than the couple hundred the speeding ticket would have cost. Not to mention the insurance increase.

 

Was it 30 days?

Oh and technically, this is a misdemeanor, so you'll be going to real court.

And this gets reported to DPS, so your insurance can see it, but I doubt you'll get a penalty

 

I've been warned a few times, 30 days after moving, expired or not (when I filled out my 10 years residence history when i bought my first house it had 14 entries, when you move that much you're bound to slip once in a while).

Of course I've had to change my address to an unlivable building in order to get Minneapolis to issue building permits too. But I guess at least it was a property I owned (and at times during the remodel it felt like I was living here).

 

No nm+ it has been like 3 months. I am just lazy and I put off stuff like that. I mean it isn't expensive to do but I just never thought about it.

 

So I will take my slap on the wrist and be glad he didn't give me the speeding ticket.

 

They should make it a petty, but you should remember that right now it is a misdemeanor (aka a crime).
The most important part of this is do not be late to or worse miss your court date, whcih will more than likely be mandatory. If you do not appear you will have a warrant out for your arrest and that is no fun.
Where'd you get the ticket?

I've been in the state of Minnesota for 7 years off and on and have a CA plate. However, i am a resident of the occasionally awesome state of California.
When you become a resident of Minnesota (residency is difficult, but unless you're a student and live here and only here, you're probably a resident), you must get MN plate sand DL within like 90 days. You cannot wait for your license to expire.

 

The last time I got one of these was in St Paul many years ago. The cop just told me to get a new DL with the correct address and bring it to their office and they would waive the ticket; and they did.

 

He said I was going to have to pay the fine for it. But that would be sweet if they just let me off.

 

And no, I am not required to go to court as long as I pay my fine before hand.

Still, make sure you pay it in person and get a reciept.

 

Yup. Musashi is right. Go get a shiny new MN license. Call county court clerk and ask to speak to a hearing officer. Hearing officer will more than likley waive the ticket or at least cut it in 1/2.

 

I did that with my Noise Violation ticket I got in St. Paul and they cut it in half. I may just pay this one though.

 

good to know... just moved here still have ohio plates and ohio license... i really dont want to get new ones considering my plates dont expire till sept and my license not for another 4 years... but maybe i should.
