"A few notes about this. First, it can be disturbing to watch for sensitive viewers. Second, though the driver, Alec Osenbach, sustained relatively minor injuries, we use the term "minor" within the context of this crash--he was battered up pretty thoroughly. The car was owned by Kendrick Gray and was a very nice show car that was out to prove it was more than just good looks. It was a cover feature in the February 2007 issue of Subiesport Magazine." http://www.drivingsports.com/blog/2007/12/flashback-wrx-c.html
Yikes. I'd tried looking at the video slo-mo but couldn't tell if it had a cage. I'm guessing "yes" as the cabin appeared to retain its form.
Thanks. Pretty good real-world evidence of best-in-class 5-star crash test rating. I just laugh when co-workers cite the "size" of their F-150s or SUVs as providing greater "safety" as a practical matter. Right before their engines come through the firewall and destroy their legs...
Actually, i would call it dumb luck. At those speeds, its just luck. An imperza (or any street car) is not designed to crash limit that.
+1. This man needs to play the lottery. That was disturbing to watch. I feel for the driver and car owner.
bummer... that was a nice ride... i wonder what happens after all that? Does the owner get a new car or what?
The owner was of course devastated by the accident but was more worried about the driver of the car. Cars can be replaced people can't, I believe anything worth saving was going into his new car. The tires broke loose, the driver started his hot laps too soon IMHO.

+infiniti Probably one of the funniest/mostest clevererest stickers I've seen. http://www.vinzdecals.com/createinside.html
