WRX vs 300zx

my friend has a 300zx and he's all boasting that he could take me (02 WRX stage 2) what are the odds of him beating me? he has little amount of mods like exhaust and intake.

Depends on his tune and how well his car has been cared for. Probably a drivers race all things considered.

On your side- a 300ZX TT weighs 3700 lbs, and that's a lot of weight to carry.

 

Turbo 300zx? If yes he will probably beat you, at least from a roll. You might be able to pull on him from a stand still.

 

really? cause i have heard that 300z (84) are the weakest twin turbo cars...

 

i think its almost all stock he wouldnt tell me... but im pretty sure it has an new exhaust.

 

oh, so its 84? The old style ones? Yeah i am pretty sure he does not have a chance.

 

if your talkint Z31s then its really shouldnt be much of a contest....

Well it doesn't really matter since you're both probably slow.

 

If it's an 84, i don't think he has a chance. If it was a 95 twin turbo or something, then you'll get beat. My buddy has a stock twin turbo and he beat me.

 

I once had a coworker tell me my wrx was slower than his olds alero because his was a v6, and four cylinders can never be faster that six cylinders.

To him it was simple math: six cylinders is more than four, so his car was faster. I just had to walk away from that one

 

People crack me up sometimes. I was in a similar conversation recently and responded in the same way you did.

 

Yea thats funny... i beat a guy in a mustang in my 90 eagle talon.... he told me "theres no replacement for displacement" lol stock mustang.... i worked him and made $100 bucks!!

 

If you guys do plan on racing, can you guys do it at rock falls. I can film it for you then you can replay it again and again and again for him when you beat him.

 

Now that is the best idea I heard in a while.... LOL. Would hate to be the looser in that one.

hey dude. I own a 300zx with about the same mods. Mines a 91 with an intake and full exhaust and a clutch. i know it dosent seem like much but its about 310 whp and trust me you would get beat. if you go from a dig the Z has terrible wheel hop and a fast first gear so you could probably have him there. but from a roll or on the free way you would not have a chance. Im not tryin to say they are the fastest things ever but they have some spunk. I raced a STI last fall with my current mods and doing a few pulls on the free way i was almost dead even with him when he was running 16 psi and at 19 he had me by a car and a half.. soo if you want to gauge it that way you can. but i would be interested to see what happens

you will absolutely **** him..the 80s 300zs werent even intercooled, i roasted one with my z34 lumina, my sho, and my thunderbird SC...you wrx will run circles around him.

I played around with one on Thursday night... Not sure what year it was, but it was a twin turbo model. He said it was around 265 at the rear wheels. I know next to nothing about Nissans so sorry I don't have more info.

I would get the dig in my Stage 1 '06 WRX TR and he'd stay where ever I left him after 1st & 2nd gear (about at my back bumper). He wanted to go from a roll, where I assume he'd get the jump, but we didn't get the chance.
