Translated excerpts from a response.jp article:
    • "We plan to introduce a higher performance model in October" - FHI President Ikuo Mori during his speech at the 6/6 Impreza Debut
    • The STI version Impreza is being developed by a team separate from the one that developed the Impreza/S-GT.
    • The personalities of the the core 1.5L Impreza and the STI version are on opposite sides of the spectrum, so we thought it would be unreasonable for one team to develop both models. Therefore, for the new Impreza we have split up the development teams. The leader is also a different person. - Product Planning PIC Yamauchi
    • "The sports version needs to be thought out thoroughly, so we didn't want one team to develop both models since that would likely lead to incompleteness. Customers have high-level demands, so we felt we needed to utilize a specialized team to meet those high expectations and provide satisfaction." - Yamauchi
    • It's expected that the STI version will have blistered fenders, large rear spoiler, and exterior bits.
    • It's likely that that a 2.0L will used and that it will pump out over 300ps.

This would be sweet. Perhaps they will give the whole design a little tweak. 2 door hatch....

Word. It's funny how much usdm has gotten screwed thus far with the 2.5 no one else has.

Plus, screw a 2 door. I'm not interested and I think they look poop anyway.

Yes, gobs of torque and spool 1000 rpms sooner is no good at all.

Yeah, we totally got screwed. Also, Japan and other markets have the 2.5L, it just isn't in the impreza. It isn't like they developed this crazy new engine just for the USDM impreza. I believe the Forester XT had it.

I like my 2.5. Spool at 2k and not having to downshift FTMFW.

Yes, I do not like the coupe.

It looks short, pudgy, and oblong.

I thought the hyper banana was waaaaaay sexier. It looked more complete to me.

I actually am not much of a fan of post gc sedans either. Wagons and hatches for me... sorry.
