anyone have a stock pwrstrng pulley laying around? for an 02 wrx 2.0 sedan. price depending on condition, or maybe free:biggrin:
i could post this in the mod & tech forum, but if you could or know someone who have the proper tools to replace this pulley for me would be great too. I installed a lighter one on and pounded in with a rubber mallet and now its crocked, spinning my vbelt in vibrating way. the pulley is damage, as I heated the insert hole to expand it then did the mistake of pounding the pulley while hot, so it must of bend the pulley. idiot! and it took me 2 lockjaw to pull out the pulley, it took me a while, but i know there's and easier way of pulling and putting it back. haven't found the right tool for the job, don't want to have to pull the whole radiator off again, or that might just be the case anyways, when there's hardley any space there.
I've seen people using a 3-jaw gear puller on it. That seems to work well. You can usually rent one for free, too.
yeah, that's what i did, i bought one that i thought was small enough, but than the jaws were too small to clamp on anything behind the pulley, there's really no good area to clamp it on, but i did rent one for free at pepboys. i use to have an old toyota truck which i used a pulley puller to pull and then use it to screw the pulley back, but it's not the same with the wrx. though both were pull type pulley. there's about 2" of space once you pull the radiator off. just thought i could find someone with a better mechanic knowledge to replace this for me. maybe i'll try fuji's shop? goosh i just don't want to damage the pulley again, putting it back that is. I'll try to get the pulley first then finding a solution to replacing it. whtbr suby qouted me $88 for the pulley and $210 for replacing it! I pay $50-70 for anyone willing to do the labor, and $30 for the used pulley maybe more if still in good condition, ie belt grooves in good conditon.
