checking in to see if anyone local has a shortblock that i could pick up. getting one today would be cool so i could still have a chance to go to the ice races with the impreza otherwise i'll have to bring the leggy.

    lmk asap

You guys do realize he has about a day and a half to get the motor into the car before the ice races right? I don't think he is going to have time to up the displacement and CR of the engine and re-tune it for the changes.

True. Just putting it out there as a potential option.

thanks guys. we may have some good news that will keep me in the subaru world... fuji and i tested compression on the pass side cyls and both were at 50ish. ends up it might be the timing belt slipped a few teeth during the landing of the jump.

working on it now...updates to come

cool glad to hear that you got it up and running. it is kind of scary that the belt jumped a few teeth though. I hope your valves are still happy.

yea, was talking to fuji and he said the plate was to high off the belt. He adjusted them down so they are closer to the belt now.
