Me and the Girlfriend are starting to look for bikes. Where's a good place to look for used? Thanks Dave
Crotch rockets, lol. Like the others have said, Simply Sportbikes has a large variety though they wouldn't give me the time of day to sell me a bike I was ready to buy last summer(maybe an off day?) Hitching post also has a good selection to look and sit on but craigslist is gonna be your best bet once you know more specifically what you're looking for. Do you have certain bikes in mind? Do you both have experience?
http://www.crashedtoys.com Not sure what your skill levels are ... but if you find the right bike, that's already been dinged up... that might be a good route to go. http://www.mnsportbikeriders.com/forums/ -> I personally think there are more than just a few knuckleheads on that site.... but there is a Buy/Sell section. Otherwise, I typically look for a forum specific to what I am going to buy. I.e. apriliaforum.com mvagusta.net and look through their classifieds.
Thanks Guys, The GF hasnt ridden before so kinda looking for a 450 or something around that range for her to start out on. I used to have a bike, looking for a R6 or something similar. I looked at SSB already and looks like they have a good selection right now. Ill check out craigslist as well. Dave
For her, Kawasaki makes a ninja 250 that's pretty cool.(honda has a new one too) the kawi 650r is nice also or my personal favorite Suzuki sv650, I had mine for years and loved it. For you looking at something in the 600 range, they're everywhere. Take your pick they should all do pretty well. Get the GF in the basic rider class if she hasn't gotten her license yet (I had a blast in this class, it's super easy) http://www.motorcyclesafety.state.mn.us/latest/MMSCHome.asp?cid=1is :fiddy:
If you're looking for an R6, an FZ6 is very similar with the same engine and adjustable rear shock. Only difference is that the engine is detuned a little, and it's more of an upright sport/touring bike. Just picked one up last summer from Simply Sportbikes and have been extremely pleased with it. If you go there, talk to Brian and mention myself (Brian) and he'll get you squared away.
The Honda 250 is interesting. Its a single cylinder if I remember correctly, and its kinda weighty, but a good option. Its about time for a competitor for Kawi in that market!
Here's a pic of the bike for sale for the subie lovers: and here's the craigslist ad: http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ram/mcy/2235563367.html
