Anyone parting out a car or removed their A/C? I need a condensor. I saw one for sale on here about a month ago. The high pressure hose has a leak so my system is empty. Seems like a perfect time to replace my nasty looking condensor (144k miles of rock chips did its worst). Thanks, Chad
Hope it is not the same as my wifes 2002 Outback Sport i.e. Impreza wagon. It has a dryer attached to it that drives the price for the unit WAY up. It is the only model year that they did that I think, and not on all models I hope. Usually the dryer is a seperate unit. Hers took a rock.
Yeah, I've seen that '02 was a unique model year in this regard. Do you recall what you paid? The previous owner of mine had a rock go into the core and they just welded it up. It worked fine actually. I wonder if the later condensor and dryer can be used with the correct later style lines (which I am replacing anyways). That is if the lines are different.
I could not find anyone willing to weld it. I think the thing was in area of $350 but not sure. I asked about doing a seperate dryer. I can not remember what the reason was but they said it could not be done....... that may be where having to replace all the lines comes in. That would be more expensive in the end but if your lines are shot I would look into it so in the future it would not be as pricy. Oh and to top it off the distributor sent the wrong cond. 2 or 3 times before they figured out that this one is a dealer only item. It seems that no other manufacture has ever done this type of setup so they can not get them.
yeah....there was a dude from Montecello trying to sell his AC Compressor and AC Condensor. I was suppose to buy it buy I ran outta money (got a flat tire). Anyway, dude was pretty cool......both parts for $50.00. Do a search, good luck......summer w/o AC can be a biatch.
I have no idea what is cross-compatible, but I have the parts from my '00 RS that I removed a couple of years ago.... If it fits, we can work something out cheap.
