Bumb for being in a crappy situation! I just went through this with T-Mobile a few months ago...

Maybe go to a store and see if any of the employees have old phones that they'd be willing to sell you on the side?

How long have you had the phone, you might be able to get a deal on an upgrade ( I think att does 'one year' upgrades )

Yeah, it's probably not worth it then to do the 1 year thing. I think it only saves like $75 bucks off the total cost of a new phone. Which is .... useless.
