I think i have already asked people here about diff bushings. Now when i am back in US i would like to actually buy them. I think i would like to get diff bushings first and later get motor mounts. I have no idea what kind i need and what is the best brand and where to get them. Please help me with my search.

    Thanks, Taras

    would these ones be good?

The TIC diff bushings are great parts, if you are interested in taking some of the slop out of the rear end consider a package deal TIC makes, the Unabombers sexy rear end.

For engine mounts I would suggest the Group N mounts if the car is a daily driver, and the Cusco mounts if it is more a track car. Along with engine mounts, a tranny mount is good to do at the same time. If you are not going to upgrade the tranny mount, get an upgraded pitch stopper, such as the grp. A part or I think Kartboy makes one.

thank a lot for the help. Will I really see a lot of differs with diff bushings? How hard are they to install? And tranny mounts look like they are hard to install.

I could tell a difference driving a car with diff bushings vs. a car without, and they weren't even my cars. Not a huge difference, but noticable.

A tranny mount is easier than an engine mount as far as installation.

Having watched an engine mount installation, I can wholeheartedly agree with this ;)

tranny mounts are nothing..a jack and breaker bar is all you really need to get it off.

they are all pretty easy. just need to be smart and take your time with the engine.

I just did the Group N engine mounts. I think it took me about an hour or so!?

I installed the Group N tranny last spring...love it.

Grp N engine and tranny mounts are OEM parts, so check with Brian or Erik at Morries (BP and Mtka respectively). I know for sure Brian has a list of the necessary part numbers.

I think LSE and MA Performance can both get any of the Whiteline/Super Pro Poly bushings you might be thinking of getting, and their prices tend to be fairly competitive with the online vendors. Let's try and support our local vendors, or they won't be there for us when we really need them for something.

As for the difference, you'll get an increase in NVH, but the car feels a lot more... together. Less sloppy, if you will. I can't speak to the difference that only one of these upgrades makes, though, as I did most of them all at once.

I did the Motor/Pitch Stop/Tranny mount on my WRX and the difference wasn't AMAZING, but it was nice. Sure, more NVH, but in most of our cars with full exhausts and non-standard suspension setups, a little more NVH isn't going to be very noticeable.

The payoff for me was crisper shifts and an overall more solid feel.

As for diff bushings, I'll let you know the difference sometime later this week. By all accounts you can expect the diff 'thunk' (you know, 1-2 shift with a little rev before dropping the clutch results in a nice THUNK sound out of the rear end. The one that scared the bejeezus out of me the first time I did it.) to go away, or at least be minimized as all that energy is transfered into the diff, and not into soft, pliable rubber bushings.

Once again, I'll let you know later this week.

Wouldn't it be bad if all of that energy is transfered to the diff? I mean it could break or crack right?

It goes through the diff and out the wheels. That's how it should be, right ?

Oh,ok. So it does not put more stress on the diff or drivetrain, right?

Note: you will add more drivetrain noise to your vehicle. I can hear vibrations from the transmission mount, and from the rear diff bushings after I did them. At least I know where it is coming from but some people may be annoyed by it. After doing all but the motor mounts, I can say that when you push the pedal it goes, there's no stretching/squishing of bushings first. I have the group-n tranny mount, kartboy rear diff support bushings, kartboy tranny crossmember bushings, and I think powerflex rear diff bushings. Not sure cause I bought those from Piddster when they didn't fit his legacy.

bumping the old thread. Some people on the fall fun run told me that my engine shakes a lot when i turn the car on and off. I was told it could be because of the warn out motor mounts. would the pitch stop be enough to fix the shake or should i get the whole set up?
    Thanks, Taras
