i just realized that my cycle helmet isnt, just DOT, and i need a helmet for the november rallyX. under $25 preferably, i dont really care about condition/looks, as long as it will pass inspection. size large
or if someone around duluth has one i could borrow that would be cool too.

Are you sure both of my dirtbike helmets are DOT and SNELL. Even my uber cheap O'Neal, which I used last year for autox.

About the cheapest Snell rated helmet you're going to find is the HJC CS-5, which can be had at Bob's Cycle Shop (in St. Paul) for about $65 depending on size and colour. The current version is M2005 rated. Of course, if you look around, you might be able to find the same model used on Ebay for less.

The usual advice is to actually go to a place like this, and have your head properly measured so you know what size you should be looking at. Then try on the actual helmet you will be buying. I myself didn't follow that advice, and my Bell helmet fits like a glove, but I went to Apex SPG for a proper fitting before buying online. Remember, it needs to be a snug fit, as you don't want it flopping around while you're competing.
