Just as the title says. That's what I'm looking for. Ok if it needs some machine work. Let me know what you have, and how much.

I've got a good running 22T motor that I need to sell, but it has a whole 93 legacy wagon attached to it.

To be fair, buying a whole car is probably the best way to find them these days. The 22T is scarce. It was scarce when I got mine a couple years ago, and I ended up buying a whole car to get it.

Salvage yards have core motors listed on car-part, so what more do you want?

I know where there is a 94 Legacy SS wagon for sale right now up here in Duluth. I think he'd take $1500 for it but am not sure.

my brother is the one that needed the gasket set. I told him about it, and told him to get a hold of you. sorry if he didn't, but not my deal.

and also not interested in a 2.0.

what do I search under on car-part to find the motors? I'm new to the Subaru's, so I don't recall exactly what they came out of.

91-94 Subaru Legacy. 2.2L Turbo. That should get you to right list of stuff.

I don't NEED the 22T, I just would consider that for it's closed deck as well as I'd consider the STi block as they will hold plenty of power as well. I'm going to swap my car, and if I'm going to do it, I want to do it right. I'd prefer to not have to pull out the motor again after I've figured out what I want, built it, and installed it.

I'm just looking out for you, man. Hunting down a 22T and buying a bunch of internals for it isn't exactly cheap, trust me. And if you don't plan on doing big, expensive builds, the EJ257 is more than ample and can tolerate well over 400whp with just a set of forged pistons.

My suggestion to you would be to decide how much you are willing to spend on a build, and what you wish to get out of it in the end. 22Ts are cool and all, but if you don't intend to build some crazy 500+whp monster, I would stick with the EJ257 and go from there. There are plenty of them out there doing it, and they don't have an extremely high failure rate doing it.

Put it this way, if I had it to do again, I would have just bought an EJ257 and been done with it. The EJ22T was costly.

yeah 400whp would be just fine for what I'm looking to do. I guess I didn't really know which would be more expensive of the two. Kinda new to Subaru's and just know that a closed deck is superior, so maybe the 257 is a better route for me. I appreciate the advice.

I'd go with the 255 or a 257. The little extra low-end tq is nice, too. :)

If 400whp is your goal, I'd go with an EJ257 or 255 as stated by Shibbs. Hitting that mark on pump gas will likely require some effort, but hitting it on 110 would be easily obtained using a GT30R and associated parts, and a set of forged pistons 'just in case.'

And yes, you'll benefit quite a bit from the low end torque available with the 2.5L bottom end. The 22T has the shorter stroke of the 2.0L with a slightly larger bore, so you can expect very similar torque from it. The 2.5L is a little more punchy down low, which is nice for in town driving and get up and go.

I appreciate the input guys. I bought a GC a while ago, and have been amassing body parts for it, and figured I could tinker with a motor build over the winter. Start piecing stuff together. I've been talking to one person about his 257 block. Let me know if anyone has anything else out there.

I also have access to parts at cost. Would it be wayyyy more expensive to start with a new OEM bare block?

    2.2l turbo motor

I have a 2.2l turbo motor out of a 1991 legacy. It has a bad head gasket. Not sure on the miles but it was over 100,000. It is a complete motor with everything but some wires and hoses (darn kids). $250
