    oem, wiseco whatever.

I have searched for pistons to no avail :(

I dont want to do all this work for just a re-ring kit, I want new pistons and all this.

anyways who knows of a good reputible place to purchase 22t pistons?

    thanks

CP makes pistons. I am going that route for my pistons later.

You can get the wisecos from Summit for 440.00 a set shipped. But they only come in overbore sizes I believe. 97.5mm and 98mm. And when you get them, have someone with piston experience make damn certain the wrist pin retaining clips are correct. They sent me the wrong ones and, well, you know what happened with that.

thats actually not too bad, I was planning on doing delta cams but I was dissuaded, for what I want to do, the 20g heads will flow and perform far better than what I expected.
as far as making sure the retaining clips are correct, could I go to any machine shop?
also jason, where did you get your cyls punched out and what was the rate?

IMHO, if you are in there you might as well do rods and balance it all out.

this is true, but from what I have read the 22t rods are very strong stock and are good past 300hp. theres a guy on legacycentral that put 20k on his block with stock rods at 400whp, so maybe I will look into getting rods, or just have mine tested for cracks....

    what do you think?

They are very strong, yes, however, why not spend the money now and not deal with it down the road, especially when you get the itch for something more? As I stated, I would personally go pistons and rods and balance out the whole moving assembly while you are at it. Do it how it should be done the first time and dont worry about it again.

hey I'm still using EJ22T rods.... but I tell you, my next build I will be using STi rods.
At least put in some STi rods. That's what I'm doing next.

    Here's a secret, 1.8L, 2.0L, 2.2L, 2.5L(EJ257) rods are the same length. 2.5L NA are a tad bit longer.

    DO IT!!!

STi rods really aren't worth it if you're going to get all teh seals and everything necessary to swap out connecting rods. Eagle's are cheap, and significantly beefier than STi rods. Don't waste your time.

Connecting rods holding has a lot to with tuning. NICO catastrophically blew his 22T with not that large of a turbo, yet innovative rocked a bone stock 22T longblock for quite some time with a 35R, untill the spun a bearing from over-revving the motor. You do the math

BTW, Dana's in Shakopee did a great job on my block. Only a trace amount of slap when it super cold, it was amazingly clean and void of all silicone, and a super nice guy to work with. $130 for the .020 overbore, tank, and check.

I've decided recently that since i have to go through all the trouble of pulling my motor out and apart, I'll be going with the wiesco/eagle setup. Like everyone else is saying, it just doesn't make sense to not do it while your in there now.

You don't loose Fuji. I just feel it is a lot of work and money in seals and bearings to replace your rods with something marginally better than what is already there.

Rev to 8k? Its possible. IIRC, your heads still have HLA's, so thats questionable. Even still, I hope you plan on serious balancing(static and dynamic) and checking of ALL tolerances, not just oil clearances. Cleanliness would also be of the utmost importance. Revving that high is really tough on the rod bearings in a boxer engine and any contamination that gets in there from assembly will seriously shorten their life.

I would like that number, I have decided to go this way.
like I said before, I would rather have a stout engine that I wont test to the extreme by any means, rather than an engine that has re used pistons and new rings........... that would be fail......... it will take longer to save for but, the geo is getting a fresh rebuild on a spare block, so I will be saving all sorts of money that way.

I found eagles on ebay for about 350 shipped, does this sound about right?
