Well apparently Rally-x > 216k mile block and a rod decided it was done. Atleast i can blame my friend for it since he was driving. Ideally im looking for a ready to run shortblock but whatever gets me back on the road the cheapest works.

Otherwise i would be looking for a 2.2 phase 2 long block w/ ecu

Let me know if you can help me out. Thanks!

Anyone know of any issues running my 97 heads on a 96 block? I seem to remember there being some difference between them.

i think the difference is the heads and not the block, speaking of legacy wise.

Yeah sounds like 96 are the only DOHC hydro lifters, but this doesnt affect me since i have the buckets in my 97. Just wondering if CR will change or if im going to have any valve clearance issues.

Also wondering if i can slap phase 1 dohc heads on a phase 2 block. Cant seem to find much information about the differences besides the moved thrust bearing.

Looks like from some quick glances at CR calculators using the 1.52mm gasket drops my CR a tish to 9.5
Im going to guess using the STI 0.6mm gasket would put the valves into the pistons? Or the 10.4 CR is going to cause some problems?

Is it poor etiquette to PM someone saying you have a motor. Then when asked how much/when can i get it say " I might be keeping it to put in my GF's winter car, but she isn't sure she can afford it right now"?
