So, I managed to break the carbon canister on my car. I was moving it out of the way so I could put my trailer hitch back on, one of the nuts was rusted and trying to break it loose I broke the canister...

Anyway, I'm not sure which years are the same, but if anyone has a carbon casister off of a 97-01 impreza, let me know. I have a '00 outback sport.

I'll try to take some pictures once I get mine out.

the part number on it is, 42036ac020.

    Thank you,
    Joel

Sure, it's pretty easy. Just be careful not to use too much torque on the carbon canister mounts when moving it out of the way. :)

I can write up some notes. Or if you want to come over I could help ya install it.

well, my super glue and zip tie fix is working so far. There was still some carbon left inside the canister when I put it back together. I haven't gotten an evap cel yet.

There are three hoses that connect to the canister. The two larger hoses look like you could connect them together, and I'm guessing you'd have to T the smaller hose into that.

I do not know the effects of removing the canister though. Maybe more fuel odors? Increased emissions from evaporating hydrocarbons?
