I've been wanting to buy a manual Forester XT for under $10k for a couple of months now. My ideal price is around $5-6k but I'm willing to go higher. Am I completely naive for thinking I can buy one for this price? I've found a few going for around $6400 before but they are all 4EAT. If you have one for sale or know of one please let me know. I have the funds.
That will never happen if you are looking for a clean good condition one. If you want to put some time and money into repairing one its possible but will be few and far in between. Manual Foresters are Hard to come by. You would be best to expand your search nation wide and be willing to travel to get it. I have seen some go for arount 8-9 but usually are high mileage or have body damage. The manuals are quite sought after. You will probably have to adjust your price range to the 8-12k and as stated before, look outside the state. Clean Autos generally go higher then 5-6k. JM auto had one that recently sold they listed for around 8k and my old forester I sold for around 10k last summer. Not saying you can't get what you are looking for, just that it will be tough.
I guess my 1st and last sentences some what contradict each other, but you get what I'm saying hopefully....
I got my 07 xt sports MT about a year and a half ago with 82k miles for $11,700, and I had to have it hauled up from Florida. It was one of about 5 MT's for sale nationwide at the time.
I have a completely built 04 xt 6 speed swap. Destroked 2.5 to a 2.3. You can pm me if you have any questions. I would like more than 10k but for anyone who I show my build sheet to my asking price would be fair. It just put down 379 awhp at dB performance on 93.
I've been looking for a few months now, and they do pop up every once in a while. From what I've seen, you have to have cash on hand and be quick, because they sell VERY fast. More options on the Forester board, but you'd have to be willing to travel to pick one up. Like stated before, most are going for around 8-12k, especially the 04-05's that came with the STi block in them. Lots of XTi swaps on that forum as well. Look on SearchTempest as well, it's a nation wide craigslist search engine.
