23 spline = FWD 5MT Imprezas (all 1.8l) with manufacture date between 11/92 and 7/94.

that craigslist ad is definitely for an EA82 trans. which would require a modified EA82 flywheel, EA82 clutch, adapter plate, custom crossmember, and 23 spline axles to be installed in an EJ car.
