I'm not sure if the fitment is universal between all 97+ imprezas L and RS. Looking for the Black heater box/core, I might of blown mine by pluggin in the wrong colored plug. Also looking for the HVAC control unit.
how can you ruin a heater core by messing up something electrical? seriously its impossible, unless that electrical connection was a grinder mounted on top of your heater core, its fine....... Controlls on the other hand....may be a different story.
I asked Kevin @ GT about it and he suggested that I probably shorted something in the heater core, so I'd have to replace the entire thing to get it working again.
Um, not very likely. Maybe just a servo on the side of it? Not sure how the subarus work, but I HIGHLY doubt you actually need a core unless its leaking.
I've got all those pieces out of my '96, they might work. If you want them let me know. What is it that doesn't work? I've ripped into the HVAC on subaru's and there are only a few things that can go wrong.
No lights on the HVAC unit work and switching to the on position does nothing, no sounds no leaks nothing. I checked fuses, just not sure if the wires could have gotten shorted somewhere.
well it sounds electrical so NO HEATER CORE NEEDED.. a heater core is like a radiator, it allows coolant to circulate inside the cabin, then the blower motor moves air over it to warm up before being pushed out into the cabin... allowing hot air to come through... therefore it is mechanical not electrical... sounds like yours is an electrical problem.. check YO fuses
I checked the fuses and none are blown, which is why I'm kinda lost as to what isn't working properly
Yes I also checked there, I'll try looking and pulling all the fuses that have to do with heat or interior again. Kind of weird that all the interior lights and everything work, but the HVAC is the only one that doesn't.
So its just the bulbs that dont work? they are easy to replace, they could all just have gotten jarred when you installed them, they are tiny little bulbs.
The HVAC has no power and so it probably can't turn the heater on. Not sure if that is whats causing the heater core to not function.
