Just to clarify, Jason is looking for a good R160 rear diff with the 3.900 final drive ratio.

His car is stuck at my house (with a bad one) and it can't stay here forever, so we are looking to buy one ASAP.

Just so there is no confusion the wrx and sti have a final drive ration both of 3.9. however the way they get there is different. the wrx has a 3.5 ratio rear end but the ration in the transfer case(5spd) is a 1.1.1.1 bringing the final ratio to 3.9. how ever i have a 6spd with a transfer case ratio of 1.1.1 so the stock wrx diff will not work.

cars that have been verified to have the correct diff are the following

97-2001 impreza 2.2l manual
95-99 legacy 2.2l manual

says a 91-94 tleg or a 92-94 n/a auto legacy will have the proper R160 as well

 

Found one that should work from a scrap yard gunna give her a shot.
