will be taking off my ksport rally spec gr's here in two weekends. I don't recommend them lol. however if anyone wants them for really cheap (maybe just for the camber plates?) I'd sell them. or else I'll take them apart and do some reverse engineering
If you are at the proper dampening, the car will not ride any better or worse. Thats the thing. Everyone likes way too much dampening. Softer ends up being faster most often. Once they are set to where they should be, you never need to touch them again. You're ride quality depends more on your spring rates. You are better off with something that is easy and cheap to rebuild/revalve. See Bilstein.
Why not a decent set of fixed perch and springs? Should work out well unless you are doing national stuff.
yea this set-up is geared for rallyx so soft is good. before the ksports I had the bc racing br's and I really liked those - pretty cheap new too
http://www.bilstein.com/services.php?PHPSESSID=275d353b6a52807ade9b7b60afae3387 $65 for rebuilds, and parts are cheap. A new shaft for one of mine was $10. Pretty much all Bilsteins are the same internally. Race dampeners and street dampeners are the same internally. Race ones have an external reservoir, which can be added if you are that ambitious.
A good cheap option is to go with Koni inserts and GC coil-over sleeves. These dampers can support up to ~600 lb/in springs and a full new setup will run you $1200. They are really good dampers compared to most of the budget coil overs out there. It's the setup I'm running this year for AutoX.
+1 for the Koni inserts, I've heard nothing but positive feedback for those. Are these for the boy's car or are you actually treating yourself to some toys?
they have 2 bugeye wagons.. Derek drives the blue one with the upgraded suspension... this is for Mikes ride I believe which used to be Brians car
Actually I am thinking about putting the Coilovers on Derek's car and making it our track car, and swaping the DSpecs over to my car.
This is for the Brainerd and other regional tracks. AutoX setups don't work on the big track. Price is not the real issue here, looking for performance and reliability.
everything. i'm a fan of the cheaper coilover (good success with 2 sets of megans and the bc's) but these ksports just suck. build quality is poor compared to the other coils I have - after only 3 months on the car they look 5 times worse than my bc's that were on for 9 months. there is no critically damped setting that I can find (probably because the valving is completely different on each strut). damping adjusters feel like crap - nearly impossible to tell how many "clicks" went by (not that it matters since the valving seems so crappy). springs are too stiff for being marketed as "rally spec gravel" coilovers. they clunk, clank and groan (inverted - lubrication helps for maybe 5 days). they do have a decent amount of travel, handle well on smooth surfaces and in consistant dirt but in this case, the bad far outweighs the good. I new I was taking a chance with them but the verdict is in: FAIL
I can make my own spacers easy enough with time to do it.. but the issue is I have sedan springs and the wagon springs I believe are a little stronger, not too mention the Forester is a little heavier then a WRX sedan so it sags in the rear due to having sedan springs etc in it...
