My 5spd it finally kicking the bucket. It started giving me the death squeeek and keeps popping out of gear, so I am looking to replace it. I am looking for all of the parts to do a 6spd swap in a GC Impreza. I think these are most of the important parts: 6spd Transmission R180 rear diff Trans x-members Shifter linkage Axles F&R Pedal box Hydraulic clutch stuff (cylinders/lines) Hubs F&R (would prefer 5x100) Brakes F&R Also might need some wheels to clear those brakes. let me know if you have anything available.
if its 05+ its STI and you'd have 5x114.3 hubs, why not find an older jdm box, those were pretty solid
The JDM 5 speeds would probably have the RA gear set which would definitely be a large improvement over what I currently have for a transmission; however I believe that the 6 speed is more durable than even the JDM 5spds. I am planning on going to a power level at which I would not feel comfortable using the RA gears for fear of breaking them. I am definately open to running the 04 STi trans and being able to keep the 5x100 hubs would be nice. IIRC the 04&05s had some issues with the synchros, and the 07s have a bit taller gears. I want a 6spd, I would prefer an 07+ for the taller gears but I am really not that picky. Although I would not want the JDM 6spd since that has even tighter gears which I would not want due to the amount of highway driving I do.
Yeah, I think I found one from Chicago. Still in a car, so I will know by end of next week if it is on it way to me. If it falls through I will let you know. Any clue when yours would be for sale?
it all depends if I have a buyer for mine, I think im going auto. I need to get some prices 1st.,could be available any day if needed.
Well dang. I would have much rather gotten yours, but I already have a deposit down. If anything changes I will let you know. Thanks
Hey Martin, I hate to thread jack, but would you be willing to sell you 5mt you currently have in your GC?
After I get a 6MT in, I am planning on putting my old 5speed up for sale. It is not in the greatest condition which I can elaborate on later. My guess is a complete rebuild is in order, so I probably wont want too much for it.
I actually I going to go w/ a 4pot/2pot setup, mainly for the reasons of 1.) saving money, and 2.) being able to use the wheels & tires I already have. Going to start with the 2pot rears and then later upgrade the fronts to 4pots. Thanks for the offer though.
