well, why do you need the v4 rear diff? what are your goals? **edit(I ask because I don't know, not to be a smartass)**
You should try contacting a JDM Importer like Garage Tuning or East Coast Swappers. They will likely have the connections to get you one. You might also try RS25.com in the classifieds section, alot of JDM GC parts turn up there.
the diff isnt for me, its for a . . . not so technologically inclined buddy lol. he isnt doing anything too special, just took a v4 front clip and swapped everything. he just needs a diff to match the tranny's drive ratio. thanks for the tips! i will have to do more digging! -Tommy
You should be able to get a normal USDM rear diff that has the same FD as that V4 front end. It is probably a 4.11 FD, you would have to do some research to be sure, but you can get 4.11 rear diffs off of a number of USDM imprezas and legacys.
ok, I did some searching. "Gear box code is 9R-TY752VBCAA out of a 1998 sti wrx sedan. came out of a V4 wrx sti sedan" Version 4 STi was made in '98 Source:http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=95468150 "TY752VBCAA 3.166 1.882 1.296 0.972 0.738 4.444 D,E" Source: http://www.catherineandken.co.uk/sti/trans.html your buddy needs a 4.44 rear diff. I think that the 98-01 Impreza 2.5RS Automatics had this same final drive. (qstarin might have one for sale)
