I'm able to upgrade my phone now through AT&T. So i'm looking at new phones. The one I really wanted they stopped production on. I was gonna buy the Samsung Epix. But now theres gonna be a newer upgraded one... I have a Samsung Blackjack. And as soon as i bought it last time. They brought out Blakcjack II So now what shall I do? Buy a Blackberry that AT&T supplies? Curve or Bold? Or Wait for Samsung to bring out another Smart Windows Moblie Based Phone? Or just buy up a Samsung Epix and deal with being behind the times once again. Remeber i'm going through AT&T so keep Sprint,Qwest,Verzion, etc... out plz
I've never had a Blackberry Phone. I am a quick learner. Are they worth it? Even with the Crackberry stories
<taras> IPHONE </taras> The only thing I miss is tactile keys, and even then only sometimes. That and the bill sucks. $90 a month is rape. My older bro just got a Curve on Sprint's network, and, for being a BB newbie, he likes it quite a bit. The web browser isn't the best but that's their only real drawback. With Windows Mobile you get a nice selection from many different web browsers with different interfaces, but for any of this to matter, you have to be someone who will surf on your phone to begin with.
I have a Curve and I like it a lot. Both hardware and software are very solid, battery lasts a long time as long as you're not running WiFi 24/7. Never had an issue with it. Download Opera for your browser and you're good to go.
I thought there was only 1, but I don't know. It's the only one we buy for people at work, we switched to Iphones for a bit and everyone started returning them after 3 months or so, they all went back to curves.
i work at a retail store i could do a "over the phone upgrade" and get you a killer deal epix is nice the new jack looks great too... i have an iphone there amazing,, retail stores dont sell iphones tho
If I was on AT&T I would have the Bold. Bold > Curve although the Curve is a fantastic phone as well. If you have any BB questions or need guidance, pm me. Im a crackberry addict
iPhones are really nice... Love mine But if I didnt get it paid for by my work, not sure if I would still have gotten it My othere thought was a htc touch. (not made anymore) Look into the htc fuze if money is not an issue here. (I havent tried it, but was really happy with the touch when a co worker had it) Personal experiences, not a huge black berry fan... iPhone and Windows Mobile have beem solid phone os's Just my two sense
Just noticed ATT has the 8900 Curve, hmmmmmmmmmm thats a sweet phone too. I would go to the store and play with them. http://na.blackberry.com/eng/device...e.jsp?products=946&products=583&products=1528
I am going to let you in on a secret. You will always have yesterday's technology. They aren't going to stop being "innovative" and improving their phones just because they have one out. And the bold is expensive.
How are you going to do this without verifying his ID in person? Don't do over the phone upgrades dude, people get screwed on those.
A million times this. People that trade out their phones every 3-6 months for the next best thing are fools. And I've found that most of the time, they get the most awesome phone out there, and they don't use half the features because they are either teenage girls or joe nobody. What the hell do you need a Blackberry for. If you aren't receiving emails from work constantly that you need to keep up with, and have a linked calendar and schedule from your corporate system, then why do you need a phone that does that stuff? Get a RAZR, it has pretty much everything that the average Joe needs in a phone.
And that's directed at you Bilknutz. You're nobody. You don't need a Blackberry. It's a waste of money. You can text message with a numberpad.
Ya well you dont need 500whp either, but people have it. Its all up to what YOU want in a phone, not what other people think you need. Hugs and kisses
I'll tell you what's even more laughable, it's the average joe jackwits that replace their previous blackberry with a new one after 6 months. What, were the features not robust enough to receive your 3 emails a day from your friends, and get that one forward from your mom about the war in iraq or the kitten that a fireman saved?
Figured you'd chime in with something dumb. Since you fall right into the group that I'm ranting about.
I suppose if you have the money to shell out every month by yourself - without discounts - for the plan the blackberry requires then go right ahead and use the blackberry. Those things are expensive. ANd be sure to report back here on whether or not you've utilized every feature that you're paying for Some people like it, others don't. If all you want is a keyboard for texting and a calendar, the Epix will suit you just fine.
A blackberry and any other smart phone do the same thing. Hold music, calender events, email's, apps, games ect. So the millions of people that buy smart phones are all jackwits? I have to strongly disagree with you on this one. Its like building a car with a big turbo, super suspension, and huge brakes and calling him a jackwit because he doesnt use the car to its fullest extent. Maybe you should have bought cadillac instead becasue you really just like to "cruise" around town making loud noises and "look at me" stickers. Like I said, its all about what YOU want to have and spend your money on.
No, I didn't say that other smartphones didn't have calendars and such. What I'm saying is that the BlackBerry shines because it is an extension of your corporate email/calendar/scheduling system. It integrates with your corporate outlook servers to provide you with your email, contacts, schedule etc... Otherwise, it doesn't do anything that a free smartphone would provide. So when you buy a phone that's star feature is Outlook integration, and is pretty much the reason why the Blackberry is so popular with the corporate crowd because that's what it does, but you buy it and don't use that, then yes, you're wasting your money and indeed, are a jackwit. Not to mention, Blackberry plans are 50.00/month and require a phone plan on top of that. AT&T 50.00 for blackberry unlimited data/messaging + 39.99/mo 450 anytime minute plan (their basic plan)...that's 90 dollars a month for a Blackberry. A 90/month plan for a phone that you rarely even answer, DREAM. That's my point. You pay 90/mo to have Blackberry data access and you probably use it to view Youtube videos at the bar.
i can do pretty good price on bold depending on what features you sign up,,, and as for know if im talking to who they say they are i have ways
I like my HTC very much (I have the touch) will probably get another HTC (fuze or dream hopefully) when its time.
Not entirerly true either. I have Verizon for one and my plan is $80.00 I love getting my emails on my phone. No im not a corp. buisness man that gets 500 emails in one day but I do get around 20-30 per day from these stupid web forums and various other stuff (family, friends ect.). I really like the convenience of reading emails on my phone and not having to run to my PC to do it. I also dont really do the ZOMG LOOK AT THIS APP guy, but I do have a few like google maps, weatherbug, slacker radio (free satalite radio), facebook and AIM. I use almost all of these daily and find them to come in very handy. I also sold my iPod becasue my BB came with a 8gig memory card and I stream all my music via bluetooth to the stereo in my car. VERY handy IMO and well worth the 80 I pay per month. The full keyboard is nice too, if I had to use the T9 ever again I would rather shoot myself. And you never call me you JACKWIT
my girlfriend had numerous htc phones and was ALWAYS bringing them back because they would give her problems and a few of my friends have sent back numerous samsung phones because of problems. i didnt like either. i used to buy phones from overseas before theyd get to the us market and use them until they hit the us market then sell them and get the next over seas phone... usually nokia's. then i went to at&t and got a blackberry curve.... LOVED it (still have it, just sitting here with a 2gb memory card, platinum color) i used that from around the release date of the curve up until about 2 or 3 months ago when my girlfriend suprised me and brought me an iphone home(3g 8gb) and it took me about 3 or 4 hours to bring myself to pull the sim out of my curve and put it in my iphone. i used the 8gb for about a week or two and had it half full or so and was loving it. the gf decided she wanted an iphone and to finally call it quits on her htc issues and when she upgraded she took the 8gb and got me a 16gb. i love my iphone. i am on it a lot and its nice to just plug into the car when you need music instead of carrying cd's. the wi-fi is nice to have and makes the internetz much faster. you can get dynolicious which has been shown to be far more accurate then the g-tech meters and there is many many many more games for it then the blackberry and after having both id say the blackberry is definately a more of a "business man's phone" and the iphone can be the business man's phone when you need it to be and then can be EVERYTHING else you want/need it to be as well. Issues i have had with each: BLACKBERRY if i didnt clear texts out daily (i text a LOT) the phone would delete all my messages and call log as a safety memory feature or something like that and youd have to pull the battery and restart the phone(bb's take a WHILE to start up) once you restarted it, they wouldnt come back and you wouldnt have any idea of getting calls or messages while it was it retard mode. iPhone 3g An app, always a game of some sort, will occasionally crash and just bring you back to the home screen. you can reopen it and play again. When the battery is low (seems like below 20%) it will sometimes not notify you of messages or calls when in "sleep" mode. When i unlock the phone, it will be slow to slide the unlocker and then the reception will drop to one bar, then say "searching" after 20-30 seconds itll bring full service back and i will get all messages that came in during that pause time and any voicemails from missed calls. If you plug it in, itll instantly come off searching and into full reception. i know blackzpremacy and a few other people i know see this same issue. 3.0 comes out on monday... hopefully thatll fix all these little issues. but i love my iphone. the iPhone gets WAY better reception then my curve did. if you have issues with your iPhone you can go to the apple store and theyll be more then happy to help you out. blackberry... youre dealing with at&t and waiting a long time with a loaner phone if they "have to send it in" if youre going blackberry, go for the bold. it is MUCH more capable of multitasking then the curve and has numerous improvements. even just cruising through the menu is faster. it is capable of taking video iirc, iphone can not nor can curve. I dont mind the $30 package because i get a work discount that more then takes care of it. if you dont have a work discount, see if you can move your line onto a family plan with friend that does and split the bill.
Daredevil, sounds like your phone had a bug and needed a OS update. That's one thing about BB's, RIM sends out OS updates almost monthly or bi-monthly to fix bugs and add new features. Thats one thing I really like.
I have had similar issues with my iPhone freezing up around the low batt... The only down side is that depending on where you live, an apple store isnt always around the corner. The new 3.0 firmware will bring the iPhone into being an all around great phone with very little short commings. And if you are into the iPhone, the new one might possibly be revealed at the developers conference june 8th... If your into having the newest thing out there
I dont want an Iphone. I have kalies iphone if i get bored and wanna play with... I was looking at the HTC Fuze and it looks awesome! But way to much money. Its a small laptop... The Blackberrys are to much for me. I'm gonna stick with getting the Epix. Its a Smart phone that i do need. And yes it has a few options I may not use. But its has alot more features i can use.
That will be perfect! The other phones may have been over kill for your needs Let us know how it works out for you
i have the HTC Touch Pro on Sprint (fuze on AT&T), and i love the phone. I had an HTC Mogul that i got swapped out to the touch pro on a warranty exchange. The TPro is an excelent phone, quick response, lots of memory, beautiful screen (640x480 Wewt), 3.2mp digi cam (which really doesn't suck), on-board graphics acceleration, etc.. the only thing holding it back is windows mobile. i've cooked roms for mine a few times, and have a decent stripped one that gives me good response through the Touchflow and such, and i updated the radio to one that makes the battery drain less of an issue... but it is an issue. this phone will need to be on a charger at least once a day, or have a spare battery. But, that being said, i've only killed it on weekends when i'm away from my office where my nice charge base is, and i forget to plug it in on my desk at home. But, if your going verizion, don't get this phone. Verizon opted to order a neutered version, where they cut the ram in half and it really shows when trying to use it.
I'm having the same problems with my bb that devildevil did. Or maby I just got a bad phone. Who knows. Anyways I don't think I will be owning another one after I am done with this one. I think they are kind of p.o.s. IMO. I've also gotten some good laughs out of some of you guys going back and forth on here. Just thought you should know.
haha thats cuase you got the girl bb pearl!!!! haha just playing josh o.p i have a epix in stock thats been here a while gooooood deals on it pm me
yes!!!!! ^^^^^^^^ +2 for that!! there is a 3$ a day unlimited which is 10$ a month cheaper than the post paid unl, pair that with the 20$ monthly text card and boom no data package tho
I have a Curve (have had a Moto Q, HTC6700, HTC6800, HTC Touch) and can honestly say the Curve is leaps and bounds ahead of any of the Windows Mobile phones I've used. As for browsers: Opera Mini works very well for me on the BB. I'm fairly convinced I will never run anything other than a blackberry for the foreseeable future.
Haha, I was lucky enough to get my Blackberry Curve from a friend's wife who "upgraded" to an iPhone. I've been in love with the phone, so much so that I could justify buying a new one. The Blackberry interface can be a tad confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it you'll love it.
