UPDATE: I have: the tranny Pressure plate flywheel slave cylinder Now I need: Shifter, Shift linkage, Clutch, Pedal assembly, Flywheel bolts, Pressure plate bolts , All of the hydraulic parts for the tranny, Starter Thanks!
Finally converting the SVX? I'll see if I've got any of that stuff lying around the shop or the house. You can also check with Bikerboy, he might have some of the pedal assembly for sale.
hey, i just saw this on e-bay, say's complete conversion for svx http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/suba...ewItemQQcategoryZ33733QQitemZ8034994286QQrdZ1
Thanks you guys! I'll have to find out more about the ebay tranny. C-Man, Let me see if this ebay thing goes through, then I'll get back to you.
car-part.com had a WRX tranny with 4k miles on it that was in a garage fire (it was fine) that they offered my 1500 shipped. It was located right across the border in wisconsin.
Correct if I'm wrong. I thouth the RS tranny are slightly stronger than the WRX trainne ratio. RS 4.11 to WRX 3.90
EDIT: Stronger? I don't know but, I would be better off with the WRX tranny. I'm not going to be able to install it yet. Here are some pics. He's also selling these gearsets and one has a broken 2nd gear. I might get those too and the other tranny carcass. I still need all the other parts for the swap though...hint hint.
I think you have strength and gearing mixed up in those numbers... I would say a WRX r=tranny is stronger cause NO japanese company I have ever known builds the faster more powerful car with a weaker smaller transmission then its N/A counterpart.. kinda backwards after sepdnign millions developing it... the gear ratios determine acceleration or top / final speed.....
I have always thought that the gears were manufactured from Subaru from the same type of assembly line for all trannies minus the STi/LGT gears. In the STi trannies, Subaru made sure that we all knew that their 6-speed tranny gears were a lot stronger than their typical trannies. To the best of my knowledge back when the WRX was the new kid on the block in 2001, Subaru never stated the increased strength and integrity of the WRX's longer geared tranny gears. I still believe, as a general rule, the shorter RS gears will not break before the WRX gears given the same HP output of the motor and the same driving style of the driver. Shorter gear ratios are larger gears which in turn has more teeth per gear thus can handle more power (before anthing begins to break). Don't get me wrong, it's not a world of a difference like the comparison of the WRX gears to the STi gears. I'm talking in general given that all else are equal.
I don't have one for sale, but if I did and no one else is bidding $21 or more for them, you'll be my first customer.
the RS tranny should hold up the svx with no problem. it also has better gearings for better acceleration than that of the WRX. you'll be much faster.
I am really getting excited about getting it in. Once the weather warms up, I'm going to want to have that on the road.
That's really too bad you already have the wrx tranny, I could sell you my RS tranny, exedy clutch, act lightweight flywheel, diffs, hubs, everything except the pedal box for a pretty decent price. I'm putting a 96 jdm tranny into my RS while I'm swapping motors .
Yeah I got the tranny for a good price. Is the pedal box for a hydraulic clutch assembly? If it is, I wonder if it would work?
I can't really tell if you're asking me or not. I can't sell my pedal box so I don't know what you're asking. sorry
I see.... sorry about that. I'm going to need my pedal box but I'm sure you could try to pick one out of a wrecked car... maybe Mike's old rally car. I'm not set on a price yet but I'm checking to see what the going rate is and then I'll drop a little off for mnsubaru people
