I have a built WRX heads with upgraded valves, springs, and retainers. Ported valves and 262 crower cams, fresh built and measured from andrew yates...Andrewtech automotive in MD. All brand new seals and internal parts ready to be used dunno how much you want to spend on heads, though...
yeah, I know this, I need to get heads lined up though, mine flow just as well as a baby trying to suck syrup through a straw 40 feet long. plus Its something I have been wanting to do. does my throttle body bolt up to that? as for the turbo, I think I have that taken care of, and that would have been taken care of first anyways.
jk but you know its subie time right? what the fzzz are you doin? you can get an impreza for like 1500 bucks these days, put your car on CL for 1500, pay the rents back, and save up a lil cash= FTW cake
Oh...I just remembered that I do have stock WRX heads I picked up from russ a while back...I can give them to you for what I paid for it...lol Just realized it...
so sad... you were going to have a sick setup and all you needed to do is put the parts that you already had on your car.... bummer, my car needs friends to play with
so close, yet so far... Priorities...cars can be replaced all day long...I need to cut expenses with my new job for the next couple of years
u can always come and play GH with me and look at my aquarium all day long, like I do after a hard day at work...
Keep your eyes out on RS25 for WRX parts. I nabbed my WRX intake manifold and wiring from RS25 for dirt cheap. hehe I have both wrx heads and intake manifold but i need them...
Correct me if im wrong but wont the stock ECU have all sorts of problems with the IAC and CAM/Crank sensors?
according to people that have done it on legacy central, its a "bolt on deal" with the only side effect being a low idle. one guy is using ej20 heads and intake manifold and ej22t-ECU & wiring, MAF, MAP, Boost/exchange solenoid, Crank & Cam Pos sensors, alt., ps pump, a/c comp. thanks guys, now im exited for the SWAP!
if you are going to do the hybrid why not go all the way and switch to the WRX ECU/wiring? it opens up alot of EM possibilities besides stand alone. (nothing wrong with stand alone just $$$$)
because it would be alot more work to to do that, i would go hydra before i went with a full swap harness unless it was uber uber cheap
I was also under the impression the tooth count and angles on the DOHC cam sprocket were very different. Please let me know if im wrong as ive been holding off on heads until i get EM to control them.
Tim, the WRX heads they are talking about on Legacy Central are not the EJ205 heads on the USDM WRX. The IAC problem along with other problems make it a PITA. What you want are the RS 2.5 DOHC heads. They bolt straight up and flow awesome. I think the EJ20G heads bolt right up, but not the USDM WRX heads.
I was talking about the 20g heads, 95lwrx has a set with intake manifold and such. so sorry about the confusion with the wrx heads, I didnt really know of the option of 20g heads. anyways, im pretty exited about this, I hear the power improvements are amazing, like 50hp amazing. there is power lost down low due to the 10cc bigger domes on the 20g heads, but there is many more options for the g heads, such as any cam a wrx can run, cosworth ect. Im buying a 93 metro (3cyl FTW) 5 speed to get to work for now from a friend for 200 bucks so as soon as i get that, the swap begins!
i might try and do some more research on this. The EJ20G motor is one of the first iterations of the turbo 2.0l I am not 100% sure if the cams and other ittty bits are completely interchangeable with the newer USDM wrxs. you might need to source some JDM parts for those heads. the parts are out there and are amazing, just slightly harder and more $$ to find. Version 4 Type R cams would rock that motor!
the only problem is the 22T wasnt meant to rev that high and probably wont hold together up there, and thus not making the potential those cams could give
the V3 and V4 had the same redline IIRC. those 20g heads are off a late v3 since the block isnt closed deck. so you will run into the same problem of reaching the stock cam potential on the 20g heads.
I personally am more focused on getting the heads on and the car running, cams will after that :yumyum: I am kind of thinking it would be cool to maybe do a few dyno runs before this, to see what kind of increases this will offer, but at the same time, I need to get a new turbo and I would rather do everything all at once. hmmm
