Ok so im lookin to sell it for like 150$ or trade it for xp pro sp2. Its not activated so everything is good. -Adam
Actually, I'd beg to differ on this. People piss and moan, usually because they don't know squat computer-wise and quite frankly, they have a right to. However, compare this to XP launch. Sure it's not perfect, but neither is Leopard. No OS comes out like daisies. With Vista's first service pack coming out, I think a lot of problems will be fixed. Also, many of the compatibility issues of Vista were caused by the laziness of software and hardware manufacturers, not Microsoft. GL with the sale.
I personally have had very few issues w/ vista, I also expect it to not be perfect in the beginning. XP launch was definately much worse but after service pack 2 it worked just fine. Hopefully sp 1 does the job on vista. Also when stating that Vista sux, please give a reason. Other than its not XP or Mac
I have Vista. The Driver support for my relatively rare motherboard is lacking. However the fault for that lies with nVidia and ASUS, not Microsoft. Other than that, the features (especially when navigating in Explorer windows) the sidebar, and the slick interface have me not stepping back to XP despite the huge performance penalty I'm incurring by sticking with Vista.
I have Vista and actually love it. My HP came right before the Duluth cruise and Lee was nice enough to go through and delete all my useless crap and show me alil bit about Vista. All and all I can't complain. Does anyone know how I get the slide show of pictures on my desktop?
You mean a slideshow in the sidebar or for your background? I think the animated background thing is for Vista Ultimate only.
I just think there's too much yippy and not enough skippy. I recently upgraded to the adobe web suite cs3. that might have something to do with it. I'm holding out hope for sp1. I really don't want to install xp on my new computer if I don't have to.
sorry about that dude. I suppose it's definitely worth checking out. I'm running dual core 2.5 - 4g ram and felt like xp ran smoother.
Oh it works. Much in the same way a perforated condom works. All the hassle, none of the promised protection.
This isn't a bad idea either. Yahoo's toolbar is safer than others. Just don't use any more than that.
it'll be hard to sell it for that, since you can drive down to MicroCenter and get a full OEM copy of Vista home premium for less.
Yeah, but then you have to deal with that pos store and all of its disgruntled employees who stink of cigarettes and coffee. lol!
yea vista is great! but my the comp i put it on just doesn have the newage tech to run it. old agp mb and socket a cpu is killin me. i just cant get support for my 3D devices im affraid. and direct x isn workin either.
Are you for serious? 99% of that software was out WAY before Vista. How's it the fault of the software for what Microsoft decided to change? On topic, I hope the upgrade wasn't and OEM upgrade package otherwise there could be issues.
Yes, I'm for realz. As much as I loathe Microsoft, it's unrealistic for them to make sure Vista was 100% backwards-compatible with every single driver/software out there. It's a new OS from the ground up, and it's the driver/software developer's responsibility to make sure it works. It's the same scenario when making sure it works for Linux/Mac OS as well.
How is it the job of say Adobe to know that MS is going to completely re-write the book on their next OS and to make sure their product written for Windows XP is 100% upwards compatible with future versions? It's not. Not even prior Microsoft apps were 100% compatible with Vista. If Microsoft expects people to upgrade it's 100% up to them to make sure that the existing applications and drivers the end user has works with the new product. The fault has nothing to do with the 3rd party and that's exactly why Vista is failing. The fact that you can still buy new machines with Windows XP on them reinforces that. Typically when a new versions of Windows goes RTM the prior release is retired. Not true here.
I disagree, Let's say Justin and the grimmspeed guys develop a kick-ass engine-back exhaust/turbo upgrade for the h4 WRX, and next year Subaru decides its going to put a H-6 tt in them from now on. Does Subaru have to make sure Justins exhaust still works? And every other company who makes exhaust for the H4? And every company who they don't even know exist? Or do you just make the specs public so people can check thier own compatibility.
