I'm going to try trading a '02 WRB wingless trunk lid for my '06 STi big wing this evening at Firestone. Doc is driving up from Mankato and we are going to see if it fits. I've been in contact with a couple people who think it won't...we'll see. Sorry we didn't get in touch sooner, but Doc contacted me before I saw your post. I'm pretty sure an '04/'05 would fit so if you'd had one I'd be trading with ya.
Doc spoolin and I are going to prove or disprove that theory at Firestone tonight. If you want to bring some wrenchs feel free. True enough about the subaru emblem on the '06, you can see the bolt heads on the inside of the trunk lid.
Make sure you change the trunk springs. You'll end up with a really good catapult if you don't. That and it'll scare the hell out of you whenever you hit the trunk release.

Hey guys, saw some of you there. Ok, I can now say that Impreza trunks from '02 up are all the same. I swaped out an '02 WRX trunk with no wing for an STi trunk with the Uber wing. Fit perfect. Had to swap out the locks and the springs but neither was any problem. Biggest trouble was the locks but luckily there were a few guys there who had experience with body work and the locks got changed. The springs change out pretty easily too. Gotta hand it to the Subaru engineers, they thought of everything. The springs are mounted on a clip that is actually a lever. If you lift up on the spring the lever rotates down out of the way and the spring tension releases and you can pull the spring out with out too much trouble. We swapped trunks and springs and locks in under an hour. So for anyone looking to swap trunks go for it with any Impreza (RS/WRX/STi) of any model year from '02 to '06
