^ Hey. Just be picky about what you stick on your car. I also have a FMIC and had some issues with intake fitment and other things. Since you have the Front mount make sure that you get your car tuned as soon as you can. I went down this road and learned alot from my experiance!

I don't know what fmic you got but with my package they sent these little rubber things that go around the hole that the pipes go into. If you forget to put that rubber thing in then yeah, you have that rattle creaking noise from stuff moven around!!

So i have the new hood and it will be easier to tune with and it wont get wet from puddles or snow. i can actually see and clean the filter as needed. and with the new hood it will be just fine

Any Short Ram is subject to heat soak in the engine bay. Although, there are heat shields and air induction boxes on the market. The heat shield helps, but an induction box is more effective. May not be the easiest application w/your FMIC though.

You definitely don't want water to get in the intake, go for a ride with me when the weather is bad out and you'll see why. I've heard that a pre-filter over the SPT can help prevent that though, K&N sells them.

hmmm, that's a good question. Don't know for sure on that one, but if you find an SPT short ram you should.

Well a guy on this thread has one but the mainreason i wanted to get rid of my CAI was due to the water but if i can just get something to prevent my CAI from getting bogged down due to water then ill gladly do that instead

You may want to check into it then. I don't know why it wouldn't work with the CAI the same way.

So i found this on K&N Its their universal CAI (pic1) But if i can find something like (pic2) which is a part of the Universwal CAI for my AEM CAI to prevent the water then that would be ideal. Any ideas?

I just installed my kn cai and it came with one, it's not water proof but the cover is water repellent, it'll get dirty but helps keep the filter clean, u'll get less water/mud into your intake

I recently purchased a 2004 WRX Sedan that has an aftermarket blow off valve and SPT short ram cold air intake (just so you know I'm cool - bv and SPT cai) and had a couple questions. The gentleman that owned it before me didn't install an induction box or the heat shield. Since I want this to be my winter ride and make a trip down to Florida this winter I don't want heat or moisture issues.

Is the $100 for the water repellent pre-filter and SPT heat shield worth the piece of mind?

Just so this is thread worthy the bag I'm talking about is above:

    http://outerwears.com/proddetail.asp?prod=3356

    and now to threadjack:

you want my cai and have a stock one - trade?

have a stock bv and want mine - trade?

Finally - dude, if you live in Hudson and used to owned a bright red 2004 wrx sedan I'm driving your old car. Got these parts you pulled, pm me. Let's make a deal.
