Hey Everyone i am looking to trade a AEM intake or a STI Deck lid for a short ram intake i put a FMIC in and it doesnt fit right because the intake goes where the new FMIC piping goes. I will be at firestone tonight otherwise i live in chanhassen
^ Hey. Just be picky about what you stick on your car. I also have a FMIC and had some issues with intake fitment and other things. Since you have the Front mount make sure that you get your car tuned as soon as you can. I went down this road and learned alot from my experiance!
Do u want to trade or do u want cash im pretty short due to all of the things that ive done UGH never knew going into this that stage 2 cost so much lol. I have cash but i need to get rid of parts too
And btw ive had the car tuned twice so no worries i got the cold air to fit i just dont like it because the hole it is in is too small and it makes some noise
no thats not what i meant lol it is not going into the correct hole in the fender because it had to move because if the fmic it rattles in the hole
I don't know what fmic you got but with my package they sent these little rubber things that go around the hole that the pipes go into. If you forget to put that rubber thing in then yeah, you have that rattle creaking noise from stuff moven around!!
i also just dont want it i got a new(used) seibon carbon fiber hood for the summer and the intake will get cooler air with a short ram air. Ive thought this through i promise. it makes more since for my application.
So i have the new hood and it will be easier to tune with and it wont get wet from puddles or snow. i can actually see and clean the filter as needed. and with the new hood it will be just fine
hahahaha thats the first time I have seen someone say a hood will help them tune a car if you can see you filter, so can the rain.
no thats not what i meant but ok im done arguing i just am having problems with the intake and my set up and i just want a short ram thats all ive had so many problems with it and im just trying to fix them... i just want to buy a intake thats all
I also understand that if u can see the filter so can the rain i do have a brain but i am mainly worried about the winter i run a stock hood in the winter so thats all im done... If anyone has a intake let me know
I can Give cash but how much i have sti decklid and aem cai thats it though... is it true though that the SPT isnt that good?
Any Short Ram is subject to heat soak in the engine bay. Although, there are heat shields and air induction boxes on the market. The heat shield helps, but an induction box is more effective. May not be the easiest application w/your FMIC though. You definitely don't want water to get in the intake, go for a ride with me when the weather is bad out and you'll see why. I've heard that a pre-filter over the SPT can help prevent that though, K&N sells them.
hmmm, that's a good question. Don't know for sure on that one, but if you find an SPT short ram you should.
Well a guy on this thread has one but the mainreason i wanted to get rid of my CAI was due to the water but if i can just get something to prevent my CAI from getting bogged down due to water then ill gladly do that instead
So i found this on K&N Its their universal CAI (pic1) But if i can find something like (pic2) which is a part of the Universwal CAI for my AEM CAI to prevent the water then that would be ideal. Any ideas?
So I called AEM and this is what i found out this company makes a prefilter that is water proof... check it out http://outerwears.com/proddetail.asp?prod=3356
^^^ I just installed my kn cai and it came with one, it's not water proof but the cover is water repellent, it'll get dirty but helps keep the filter clean, u'll get less water/mud into your intake
I recently purchased a 2004 WRX Sedan that has an aftermarket blow off valve and SPT short ram cold air intake (just so you know I'm cool - bv and SPT cai) and had a couple questions. The gentleman that owned it before me didn't install an induction box or the heat shield. Since I want this to be my winter ride and make a trip down to Florida this winter I don't want heat or moisture issues. Is the $100 for the water repellent pre-filter and SPT heat shield worth the piece of mind? Just so this is thread worthy the bag I'm talking about is above: http://outerwears.com/proddetail.asp?prod=3356 and now to threadjack: you want my cai and have a stock one - trade? have a stock bv and want mine - trade? Finally - dude, if you live in Hudson and used to owned a bright red 2004 wrx sedan I'm driving your old car. Got these parts you pulled, pm me. Let's make a deal.
