I just wanted to introduce my self, I also had some questions. My name is Rick aka photoeye0 on most other forums. I sorta new to this Subaru stuff. I'm not new to tryin to make cars go faster, but I normally do it in an old Mazda. Here it is: and the current mess... Some of you may have seen my daily beater... It pink tape was just for the rally. Yeah she's a beast...:roll: Need less to say I have been lookin to buy a newer car...a Legacy wagon or Impreza wagon. I'm always workin on the super tight budget. I'm lookin for something around 3000-3500. I know something in that range isn't going to be perfect, but is there anytime thing I should watch out for? I am planing on changing the timing belt and giving it a good tune up. Thanks for looking and if you have any pointers please speak up.
If you're looking at anything with a 2.5 non-turbo, its pretty easy to find one with a leaky headgasket for cheap. Or, watch for leaking headgaskets. Oily coolant, milky oil, bubbles in the coolant... that kind of thing. Also: Welcome!

Thanks all!!! If the ol' mazda makes it to the road this summer, I'll have to drag it to a meet or something. I'm still lookin, but so far I've found a 1998 Legacy and a 1999 Outback. Now I just have to sit and wait for my tax refunds.
