this is for my older brother, i'm not sure if any of you heard of it but 4 hmong girls from Laos were raped and killed by the laotion soldiers. This friday the hmong students from the U of M is helding a event in memory of the 4 girls and a boy. It will be held at foodsmart from 7pm-11pm. Please come and help support this. The purpose is to get the media to reconize the hardship of what the hmong go through and so that they can get support in thailand against the lation soldiers. thanks
I'm sorry to hear that Lue, I'm a laotion as well and shouldn't be this way among Lao towards hmong. RIP to the gurls.
Lue, I have nothing good to say about the Laotian goverment and some of it's people. <blockquote id="quote"><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote">Originally posted by tbone I'm sorry to hear that Lue, I'm a laotion as well and shouldn't be this way among Lao towards hmong. We're all Lao politically... we may not speak or share the same culture but we're all from that country. I'm sure you have family along with mine that died defending it from the North Vietnamese when they take over.
it's gonna be similar to a hmong traditional funeral. Light up some of those shaman sticks, papers, paper boats and such. No donation, no money needed. Just being there helps support. The bigger the group the better it'll be. Thanks again all.

My family was refugee at thailand as well and was taken by the europe embassys. And since I came in US I never knew about your culture either until I met one and came along as one my best friend. Then I realize we are all relative, even though we are not united but we are still families
I thought this happened in Laos? There are still Hmongs in Laos that are being hunted down. In the recent story I read about on "Hmong Times," five girls and a boy carrying a Vietnam Era rifle weapon (all in thier early teens) left the camp in the jungle of Laos to go find food for their camp. The Fact Finding reporters were 100 ft behind this group. Soon afterwards, the reporters heard gunshots and some Laotian soldiers speaking in Lao yelling, "girls!" The reporters returned to the camp and two or three girls of that group returned with gunshot wounds to the legs and arms. They went back to the scene and found the girls raped, stabbed, and shot. The boy was shot and cut into peices. Boy, was I sad and angered! I still am, dang it! I'll be there for the memorial.
You know my fellow brothers... when it comes to the living condition of the Hmong people in Laos... I get angery and sad at the same time. My heart breaks at the thought of the innocent babies whose head were bashed in by the Lao/Vietnamese soldiers. The old folks who couldn't walk or escape and were cut to pieces and fed to the dogs and animal in the forest. The Hmong people who has been trying to live all this time away from the evilness of the government had not lived at all, they've been trying to live. Since America pulled out of the war in the 70's... the Hmong peoples been hunted down by the Lao government and a mass genocide was placed on their head. I'd bang a drum for the dying Bang a drum for the truth Bang a drum for the innocence lost in their youth Bang a drum, bang it loudly Or as soft as you need Bang a drum for you brother and sisters May you rest in peace
Here's a statement release by John Kerry: For Immediate Release October 11, 2004 Statement from John Kerry "Throughout our history, America has benefited greatly from the valor of allies and local forces who shared the burden of war with us. During the Vietnam War, thousands of Lao-Hmong served alongside us. We must never forget the more than 35,000 Lao-Hmong troops that were killed during the war. We honor their service and are grateful for their sacrifices. As president, I will work with Congress to make sure that all people who serve our country are provided the recognition that they deserve. "For thousands of Hmong still in Southeast Asia, the legacy of the war continues to exact a toll. Economic opportunities are few. Unexploded ordnance litters the Laotian countryside, killing and maiming dozens every year. According to State Department reports, many Hmong in Laos are still subject to persecution by the Laotian government. Recent claims of abuses against children are particularly troubling. The world can not turn away. The United States should work with Laos to find ways for the Laotian government to begin real political dialogue with the Hmong. Violence is not the solution for the Laotian government or the Hmong that oppose it. I also urge the United Nations to remain actively engaged on the problems of the Hmong in Laos and Thailand, including monitoring the human rights situation." Just thought I share an input on the whole political issue at hands.

Ma, that's not my intention to persuad any voters. I'm just passing any info. that I come across on the Hmong ogranization board that I'm part of. If Bush sent one, I'll share it as well.
Thats what we got to work with, and knowing what Bush has to off the last 4 years, I'm really to try something new.
A couple of my lady co-workers pointed out that if Bush were to be elected president again, the world will come to an end within the next four years. These ladies are not crazy. I don't necessarily agree with them, but they have thier opinions and I respect their concern. As a matter of fact, in the last decade or so, no less than 95% of Black-Americans in America voted for the democrat. Seems like the republicans leaves a lot to be wanted by the public.

Just read this whole thread. I feel sad now Where exactly is this Foodsmart at for the memorial? I'd like to come down if a I can.
Foodsmart is the location where the Fast and the Furious crowd hangs out at. SE corner of Dale and University in Saint Paul behind Wendy's.

Its getting cold and I wanna stay at my warm house
You guys will watch me eat if you guys don't bring $$. Lets grab something afterwards. I'll likely be at the Foods Mart lot @ 7pm.
If I get my cooling fan fixed in time I'll come down for sure. Here are some maps; are they accurate? I have'nt been down in that area in almost 2 years now when I used to live not far from there. You can exit 94 onto St. Anthony and just take Dale north to Uni right? General area: Zoomed In:
I'll be there for a short while to support, I can't stay long due to family event I have to help prepare for tomorrow afternoon.
Foods mart is between Dale ave and the Trieu Chau Restaurant on University. It's the only big parking lot there, so you won't miss it. I hope people we're not the only ones attending. Yia, I'll have to meet you guys there because I'm coming from Metrostate Library.
I dont think we'll be the only ones.....this is for my brother's asian club at the U of M...the other members should have some people comming too! if not oh wells! we get the spot light! morganm, the map looks accurate! just follow it and you'll be find foodsmart! you can't miss it!
SO COLD OUTSIDE......I dont feel like driving down there.......If I get bored enough I'll come for a bit...BBBrrrrr....
Sorry I couldn't make it. Couldn't get my car working properly in time. I hope it was a good turnout despite the weather.
it's cool morganm. Fong, Tommy, Yia, and Vic were there including me. It was sad being there seeing the footage and hearing what they had to say. It was inspiring and sad at the same time. Glad i was there to hear. After that we decided to go have some fun besides Vic. Went to eat out with some of my girl friends and then played a few rounds of pool then here. Great way to end the day. Thanks alot to fong for treating the night out!
Great turn out guys... I feel like crying but my heart tells me to be strong. Being a parent and hearing the parent of the decease child weep cuts me deep. I'm full of hatred and anger right now. It's going to take me while to get this out of my system... I couldn't sleep. It's 2 in the morning and I decided to come here and clear my mind. I feel like a part of me tears apart... if Gods willing, I'll hunt down every single mofo and give them a slow painful death 1000 times that of these child.
it's ok Vic, we all feel that way. I guess you got hit harder than us because you're a parent yourself. I hope you get it out of your system soon! thanks for being there! really appreciate!
