Where can I find 93 octane gas? I've found 92 octane at SA (Holiday?) but nothing better. I did a search and couldn't find anything recent on where to get higher octane gas in the cities. I'm mostly concerned with the Burnsville/Bloomington area but thought it'd be good to know all over the cities.
Thank you. Did a search (on my phone since my computer is with my furniture, in storage) and this thread didn't come up. To BP I go.
Ya if you use the Gas finder app. It will show you the closest gas station locations and what they offer for octane
I've found that the gas buddy app doesn't accurately show the octane rating...is there a different app that you're using? Anyway, pretty much BP or nothing in the twin cities.
I know this is a subjective question, but does running 93 instead of 91 have that noticeable of differences?
If you do not change your tuning running a higher octane will not give you any better performance gains. Some people may claim some gains in health of your engine
When Nuke tuned mine, I happened to have 92 in my car, seems I get a little better mpg when I run 93. And car seems to run a little smoother. Nothing crazy noticeable tho.
Thank you. I currently am running the stock tune, you wouldn't happen to know what octane the stock tune is set at would you?
Depends on your car. Do you have a turbo? If you have a Wrx or something with a turbo then you want to run premium aka at least 91. Turbos are more picky about ignition points which is really what the octane is dictating.
91... as long as you aren't one of those guys who think it's perfectly fine to put in 87/89 because they feel that the car doesn't need it or that they don't want to pay for the difference...then you're fine AND...you know who you are...quit doing it!
Also if you come across a place that is selling over 93 dont waste your money. In the long run it will hurt your engine by leaving behind and unburden fuel as carbon deposits and cause detonation down the road.
I honestly get more MPG running 92/93 vs. 91. It's hard to compare from a single gas station though as a gas station will carry either 91 or 93 and never both. My personal favoriate: Bill's Superette 92 octane. Good gas mileage, no knocking. On par with BP's 93 octane, although BP does give me a like .5 MPG more. The worst gas I've used: 91 at any Holiday gas station -_-
