lol, thanks. I'm hoping it has a more air cooled NA sound of a gt3 like the clips online seem to suggest.

There are some ok sound clips on the vendor's website:
    http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/agency-power-exhaust-system-porsche-996tt-0105-p-33955.html
(3rd clip... yeah, I know, vivid  )

The great thing about most porsche owners is that they're willing to let something like this exhaust (with 3k miles on it) go for under 1/3 of the original price if it has a scrape or two on it ;) Still too expensive, but it leaves money in the budget for a retune.

Warranty is up this October... Exhaust, wheels, and tune don't count... turbos, injectors, coilovers, adjustable control arms, etc... those are what I consider "mods" lol

No I'm still going to gut it, the problem is the post cat/pre-canister pipe has an angled diverter rather than a straight pipe. So any modification beyond gutting it will require so much work that you might as well start from scratch and build it from the ground up.

Take a look at this cutaway to see what I mean:

    http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/996-turbo-gt2/235839-stock-cats-cutaway.html#post3114755

I'm sure I'll go through at least half a dozen different exhaust setups on this car like I did on the wrx/STi.

those clips sound pretty gnarly, i like how it sounds inside the car. i suppose most enthusiast wouldn't have a problem with letting something go for a little cheaper than purchase price :). i've been checking out some older 911's and 944's..i think porsche's are finally starting to grow on me.

One of my favorite cars...blargh, so nice. If I could only find proper car seats for a C4S...I could properly justify going back to a 2 door :) Good choice sir.

Thanks! Welcome back! What are you driving these days?

What constitutes proper seats for you?

The 997 C2S I was considering came with the adaptive sports seats but they only felt marginally better (lateral grip-wise) than the base 996 seats with lumbar option. The factory gt3 and carrera gt seats (and even the knock offs) are supposed to be a pretty good compromise between stock comfort and an fia certified seat. Finding the factory fixed back seats at a price I'm willing to pay is a different issue lol

Very nice 996! These have been one of my favorites for quite a while now! Hope to see this thing around when I move up there!

The new wheels look great on it IMO....Good work since many owners manage to ruin the look of the car with poor wheel choice!

yeah, sucked. 3 hours to change the plugs and coilpacks (not including the hour it took me to remove the exhaust yesterday). I could probably do it in 3 hours total, but I don't want to find out.

Yea, I think I saw a write-up about doing the plugs on a 996 turbo. And the first couple steps involved removing most of the rear suspension and brakes.

First time on mine the first side took two hours the second 30 minutes. I don't have all the turbo plumbing but the engine sits a bit further forward than yours. I'll bet they just drop the engine in the shop manual.

Yeah the book has you remove the wheels, taillights, rear bumper, rear fender liner pieces, 4 heat shields, intercoolers, and boost hoses. I didn't want to risk a boost leak or breaking something expensive.

All I removed were the 4 O2 sensors, exhaust and 2 heat shields. 3 of the plugs/coilpacks were really easy, 2 were moderately difficult, and 1 was a huge PITA... I spent 45 minutes on that one because I had to squeeze my arm over the hard plastic boost hose, under the thick hard plastic fender liner, and through a metal bracket on one side... surprisingly I didn't break, bend, and ding anything and didn't lose any blood... lost lots of skin though

I'm sure all that work is worth it. However, this makes bacon sound pretty good. ;)
