Well My ac crapped out on the hottest day of the year! Looks like the compressor is not kicking in. Does anybody know how much this will cost to fix.. I was told maybe 400.00 :( :emo: any suggestions on where to go as well.

My sugestion is go to Firestone get the $39 service evaluation. My guess is that your compressor is just fine. You have several items that could cause your problem. You will need an expert to sort it out.

I would check all your lines for holes. I just had this issue. My TMIC rubbed a hole in my line causing a leak. Line cost about $35, new freon from checker was about $30 (you can buy a bottle that has a guage right on it). Very simple and cheap :)

Sounds like me when Colin came to tow the wagon away. Except I had a giant mug of Dr. Jerry.

You two should have posted up that you needed these parts. I had both sitting in my garage in a box.

this is good advice.. typically if the freon is too low the compressor wont kick on.... so it may need a re-charge and a check for leaks..

ps Mike.. still need to chat suspension soon

Yep. I was pretty surprised when my 02 wagon needed a recharge last summer (my 93 truck still blows cold on the original freon). Nathan took care of it for me back when he still had his shop.

If I want to get the coolant from the parts store and re-charge mine, what kind (brand and/or type) should I get?

    first things first..

    COOLANT goes in the radiator...

FREON goes in the a/c system... ha ha ha

most parts stores... but even though some swear they have had success, it is always best to find a shop that is 1. Trustworthy 2. trained to work on it... by the way.. it is illegal to release freon into the air, (not that you would ever get busted...)
